Program to vectorize images

(1/1)

Sakura90:
Hi!

I need to vectorize some raster images. As they aren't too complex I thought that there would be a program out there that can do it automatically. So that's what I'm asking :D. Better if it can be a freeware :)

Thanks!

Edit: I just tried Vector Magic. Amazing what that little program can do (it isn't free but that wasn't a problem ;)). I even tried with a more complex image and with a little tweaking it produced excellent results. It did take a while though, too bad it doesn't support quad cores (or duals for the case). Anyway, now I can spend more time with Japanese instead of wasting it with stupid images, hehe. I'm better off learning a language as no translator can produce results of comparable quality as this program does vectorizing :3

I've use inkscape which uses potrace.

TorturdChaos:
Anyone know how Vector Magic & Inkscape vectorizing compares to Illustrator's Live Trace?

I work in a sign shop and work almost exclusively in vector graphics, but I'm not overly happy with Illustrator's Live Trace.
