Anime DVD SRT MPC
« on: June 23, 2010, 10:31:59 AM »
I have just started watching the anime I bought on dvd and it is the first time I have watched an anime from a dvd and not from here. The subtitles were hideous, the video quality wasn't that great and the color range was so dull. After looking around I learned I could use filters to sharpen it up and fix the color range so now it now look good(anymore hints would be appreciated). But the srt subtitles still look bad.

Actual problem: How do I get (VSfilter?) to change the SRT subtitle font/size etc?

I have looked around the forum, on cccp wiki and searched on Google but couldn't find anything so could anyone help me or if I missed a thread on this please link to it.

DVDs do not use .srts. They use vobsubs, which are made of images, and thus cannot be changed.

Correct me if my memory fails me.

Thanks, it seems you are right. I guess I am stuck with ugly subs.

VobSubs can only be changed in size. You can rip them to SRT with SubRip or similar (I don't remember which one I used for ripping). If the series doesn't use much subtitle positioning (for signs for example) you'll have good results. The process for OCRing is pretty simple and it doesn't take much time. I'll post more later if you want. I have to go now ;)

What does "[sic]" mean? I don't think anyone got sick in the article so why is it in there? Should I start writing and post "[dump]" when I leave to go take a shit then return?
