HazukiChan:
Thanks newy for the clarification ^_^

Episode 17 bummed me out as I was expecting more positive action.

Apparently, you're unable to empathize other people. This show is nothing for you. Please drop it for our sake!

"hole" #1: It hasn't even been explained how Tatsumi and Yoshie have become daywalkers/are daywalkers.

"hole" #2: Shiki kill humans in order to survive, humans kill cattle in order to survive. Where is the sin in that? It's perverse but logical.

"hole" #3: What hole? Of course, we don't know how the doc is now to defeat the Shiki but I don't see any plothole here. It's twist. The case of Seishin is more of a psychological matter.

"hole" #4: And where in this episode (17) do you see that Natsuno is stronger than Tatsumi?

"hole" #5: Because he killed Natsuno the threshold to kill has been lowered. Who said Natsuno was ever buried?

"hole" #6: Why call the police when the police is working for the Kirishiki and the original officer "moved" away...?

And to the others, Yoshie is the maid I was talking about.

there was a scene where Tatsumi was chasing Natsuno and finally gave up, as for Tatsumi walking, rewatch the shiki little girls tale, that guy there kinda looks like Tatsumi, though I can't really tell cuz of the stupid hair that are all over this place, now for once I liked that nurse, she looked kinda nice and elegant in those clothes, well, she gonna die soon anyways, well Natsuno is about the only one living if you don't count that girl with pigtails whose brother was taken by Shiki, she pretty much broke down, and to make it funnier, the monk was comforting her and realized how stupid he is (in my eyes)

also, yeah, survival, but killing cattle to survive is not like killing a human to stuff your belly, that monk pretty much didn't give a shit about the village since he met the Kirishiki's girl, that girls has power in words, and the cliched scene with the husband making a tear in the eye, that was such a fail, I'm not gonna drop this cuz I hate dropping shows that I started, but I have no idea why you are so hyped about it. Clearly you can see how flawed this story is, I doubt there is gonna be a definite end to the story.

everything that could have made some positive progress in the story has been killed/converted, I suppose that there will be VanHellsing coming to town.

The reason why I love anime is because it frequently defies Western storytelling logic. But this one is real torture for me. I just can't get over how easily the heroes and heroines die in this one. Good thing it will be over soon.

Why is it so bad that most of the people are dieing? I think it holds more water than most anime plots where for no real reason or logic the good guys all win and everything is ok in the end. Early on the show painted a dark out come and i dont really see a happy ending coming and i prefer it that way. Sometimes its nice when the bad guy wins, or atleast the good guys lose too. It works that way in the real world sometimes so why not in anime.

It didnt look as much like tatsumi chasing natsuno and giving up as it did he was following natsuno and decided that he didnt need to anymore for what ever reason.

+1 for that! Having the good guys win all the time (or everyone making it out alive) gets incredibly dull. And I love this series for not being like that. It's dark, mysterious... although a bit ponderous. I happen to love the hairstyles, though the faces could use some work :P Like that one dumbass who was always trying to be buddy-buddy with Natsuno. His face made me cringe.

As for episode 17, looks like the ol' doc is fed up. Guess he's gonna try to them it down from the inside...... maybe.

It's not bad. I like Shiki for the same reason - it's not like most of the other stuff. I've been saying this the entire thread: it's hard for me, because every time I get attached to a character, they die.

Shiki doesn't follow standardized storytelling logic at all, so the compartment in my brain that's responsible for analyzing and remembering story lines is set up (a hero appears) and knocked down (a hero dies) in almost every episode. Needs a lot more brain power than "a hero appears - fights - wins - the end". It forces me to actually watch and think and makes me curious about every new episode. That's great!

I'm just complaining because it makes me work harder :D

I wonder ... if the hairstyles and animation overall were less outrageous and more realistic or if it was full of mainstream bishies and bishoujos - would the show have more of an emotional impact? Do you think you'd be more involved if everyone looked like they jumped out of Oreimo or ... let's say Ergo Proxy?
