Set your torrent client to download individual episodes from anime series' rather than the whole thing at once, set a limit that will allow you to get an episode or two during your torrent session, so that you can seed at the same time and will have something to watch between bursts. First you have to fix your rates, though... just keep your non-bakabt torrenting to a reasonable amount and you should be able to fix your ratio before before the warning gets re-issued.

Regardless of whether or not you have an "Internet machine" on for a decent amount of time, you will likely have to limit your downloading, especially if you have an asymmetric connection. Unless your upload speed limit is pretty high, and you can reach that limit regularly, pacing becomes very important.

It's not absolutely necessary to download a torrent in segments, though, if you have enough of a ratio buffer to take the hit. That takes careful planning, of course, or just mad mass nonstop seeding.

Dunno, really Kira - I don't use download limits here, I'm happy to seed most of the time and download in only short bursts. Because of the way my ISP currently deals with torrent-choking, (5 hour per-tracker throttling in 24 hour period for persistent users) this strategy works out better for me in the long run, because my system seeds best through the night, when I'm (sometimes) in bed. I grab downloads during the morning/afternoon before the choke kicks in and I can copy them off to another system share for whatever purposes and let my client worry about the rest.

I got down to about a 0.15 ratio when I first came here, but I did this fully accepting that I would have to seed for a long time if I got warned. By that point I had enough anime to be going on with for a while, and enough different encodings to make testing my scripts plausible. Now I'm at about 0.5 and I'm happy just to be seeding most of the time, and go on doing so as long as possible. This would not have worked out nicely if I could only torrent for a couple of hours at a time; I wouldn't dream of sucking down 1MB/s in such a scenario!

Of course, it's not necessary to download in segments, it's just a suggestion to the guy as a way he might be able to get something down to watch during a session, so that he doesn't decide seeding isn't worth it and just does a big hit and run as soon as his rates are "fixed". It's quite obvious he can't manage *either* careful planning or mad mass non-stop seeding xD
