Toyotas Randomly Accelerating
« on: July 14, 2010, 01:24:09 AM »
Apparently early testing data is leading to the leading cause being pedal misapplication aka stupid fucking people.

So toyota has announced its revamping its QC and safety shit, i need someone to make a demotivational poster about drivers being fail and toyota shooting people and make some sort of quip about them improving their driver safety 1 driver at a time. GO GO

Heard about this on the news today. Sounds like a bunch of morons out there still dont know how to drive but are blaming on Toyata thinking they can get away with it due of a previously existing glitch.
Dont remember details exactly because I was just over hearing the radio while at work, but I guess one guy even got busted trying to make a fraudulent claim about this very issue.

I hate how people think that a car is about "gas", "break" and "wipers" and know pretty much nothing else. Oh, might know about signals... but... that isn't important.

Too many people who don't know how to drive cars driving cars.

Antifreeze, oil, windshield washer fluid, tires... I think those all clump in there too.

This has been obvious from the beginning. As soon as it became a news story, every idiot that hit something with a Toyota blamed it on unintended acceleration. Odd though how it was mostly old people. Also odd that the vast majority of cases involved only Toyotas and not Lexus even though they're built from the same parts.

Wasn't the first story of a Lexus? (The cop one)

One guy got in a high speed chase with cops and said that he couldnt get his car to stop because the pedal was stuck. He then said he wanted a new car due to the stressful situation and his car being broken. Funny thing was that his car wasnt even from the year gap in which this problem was cropping up, he missed the mark by about 3 years..rofl

No one should be permitted to drive until they are able to successfully and reliably operate a vehicle with a manual transmission.

The only reason such a restriction hasn't been implemented is that 75% of American drivers couldn't operate a stick shift if their life depended on it.

I can drive no problem for manual. I keep stalling when downshifting or braking. <_<

Meh, I prefer stick, prolly becuz I am so used to motorcycles where I have to manually change gears anyway.

lol, I actually never drove an automatic in my life. For some reason I got the feeling manual is easier, or at least you got more control over the car XD

What I don't get is how does the motor suddenly taking on some gas lead to accidents unless it's a real close situation already. You could just switch to neutral or turn the engine off...

Because we can!

The funny thing is, a study of this problem has found that some people just like to randomly accelerate  ;D

That's because people often have a problem with the concept that tailgating is bad and don't like to give any leeway (most frustrating thing in the world).

You have no idea how many people get confused at which is brake and which is gas. Fuck, it's 50:50 AND the damn pedals NEVER change places. It's not that damn hard. I hate people like this. Driving a car and not even understanding anything about cars in general.

"Oops... I pushed the wrong one."

Fuck. You can figure out a shitload of keys on a keyboard, but not 2 pedals in a car?

Just make the driving test a real world Burnout.  Only the survivors get licenses.

think about how many people need to look at the keyboard and single poke each key
