So having extra time to work on these tasks won't allow him to produce a better offer? Thanks, I have been living my life believing that you can achieve more if you spend longer working on it. =p
Yeah, I know about templates and what makes one offer get accepted over the other. But I have no idea what this guys skill set is, or how much free time he has. I wasn't encouraging him to do it fast, I was suggesting he does the opposite and gets started ahead of time to produce something good. Even doing decent encoding can take a long time if you aren't yet familiar with any tools.
Oh, Dalshien I guess it's worth noting that someone else might put up a better offer than you, or a better one might come along five minutes after yours gets accepted, so it might be better only to take on a project if you feel you will enjoy it and/or learn something. Without knowing what the anime is, or what source files you plan to use, it's pretty hard to guess how much work it might be and how likely it is to be a "wasted" effort.
If it *is* High School of the Dead, then I'm know that at least a couple of groups have picked this up, so you could be comparing their fansubs/speedsubs and video quality as they get released, and of course working on a nice offer page. Yes, use a template, but take a look at the offers page and see what kinds of suggestions people make about those ones. People will generally be impressed if your first offer looks very attractive, includes all relevant information and you are also able to answer questions and give screenshots relating to the other alternative encodings that are available.
At the other end of the scale, if you want to take some TV rips and do all the processing/encoding, translation and subbing yourself... this will be a huge amount of work by comparison.
