I knew a guy who once confided in me that he did not make the connection between sex and babies until he was in his mid-twenties. He was raised in a very "proper" family environment, and when he asked in his youth where babies came from, he was informed they were put into mothers at the hospital. He never got around to querying the lie and putting the facts together until much later. What's worst is that he (apparently) masturbated avidly throughout his teen years - he simply believed he was indulging in some sinful and secret act, and obviously would not have dared to discuss it with his parents or siblings. He just did not - for over a decade - think to wonder what the "white stuff" (his words) was actually for...
...stories like this were definitely a contributing factor in my drifting away from him. If I had thought, at ~25, that pregnancy was a medical procedure, I certainly wouldn't make an anecdote out of it in later years! *shudder*
