Inception
« on: July 18, 2010, 04:36:17 PM »
Just saw this movie and I thought it was pretty epic. The whole movie was very well done and the music really made it even better.

Has anyone else seen this movie if so tell us about it?!

I've seen the movie and it was a very good movie. But it does have it's share of problems too......I'll give my break down on them.

I enjoyed this one immensely, for the sole reason that it had my gears turning till the very end. The plot and story is an immaculate work of art and the concepts are really great. And here i thought DiCaprio was just good at looking pretty on a sinking ship.

Was this similar to say Dark City, 13th Floor, or perhaps the Matrix?

Only really similar in the sense that it constantly questions the viewer whether what their seeing is real or not. Image your watching the Matrix and there are 3 or 4 or 5 levels of the matrix and your never quite sure which one your in, then blind fold yourself and have someone spin you around the room so you lose your sense of direction.

If you liked Nolan's previous stuff, you'll probably like this.

Good soundtrack, too, although it needed some time to grow on me.  I like this new Zimmer.

I enjoyed this one more than I expected to. Surely one of those you want to watch 2-3 times to get a full grasp of the movie. I pick up stuff faster than others so I expect to be able to understand fully in 2 viewings (which I might wait till the DVD release to do) but others might take more shots.

Easily, the movie "spoils" itself when you contemplate watching more than once. For example, the "circle arrow w/ line" easily tells you how the 'story' goes. Layers are also ambiguous. Separate layers vs sub layers is a concept no one really catches. The latter is shown only once but not many notice it. "Ever realize ____ spends a lot of time doing the things he tells you not to do?"

Also, the "must do X in sequence" thing is silly only if you misunderstand the story. The idea is that if the ______ is not present in the correct layer, the individual "does not die" and lim____ occurs.

Anyone else notice there's quite a few "Dark Knight" actors present? I counted at least 3.

Also... do you think this resembles Matrix more? Or Cube/Hypercube to a small extent?

Good soundtrack, too, although it needed some time to grow on me.  I like this new Zimmer.
I read this and got the soundtrack. And I must say, it's pretty awesome! I like it very much and I look forward to listening to it while watching the move.

Especially the 7th track Mombasa.

I'm not one for complicated plots or hard-to-understand movies so I'm wondering if I'll even get something out of watching this. :D

This is one of those movies where you generally need a few watches to figure out everything.

Heard nothing but good reviews of this movie, it's going to be the first hollywood movie i'll be downloading in a long time.

This movie strikes home for me because my grandfathers know how to do inception.

The reason he walked away is because Nolan wanted a close up of the top. There's no real meaning to it.

Except for the fact that everything that you are shown is meant to be shown that way to tell you more about whats going on and what the characters are thinking? Everything a writer and/or director does in a movie/ a book/ etc has meaning and symbolism that you can pull out of it silly.
