I use a Nokia 1661. It is a bit too feature rich for me. I could probably cut half its features and be happy. The radio for example, havn't used it once, don't even know where I put the headset that came with it...

Plus, simple, has all the features I want and decent battery time (tend to recharge it once a week or a little less). Especially setting the alarm clock per week day, my old phone didn't have that.

I thought the chinese rip-off phones only had radios :/ guess not... HOW is that feature rich?! I wonder...do u buttdial alot of people? I tend to do that even with the blackberrys so called "innovative non-buttdialing screen" that makes u press it down to type or do anything ._. I remember my first phone... (some little semi-transparent nokia with blue sides, that lit up alot...candy bar also) I'de always accidentaly call people. Then I got my Razr and I was like...crazy with it, Charged about $500 in apps,ringtones, and music...which got parents pissed at me ._.

It is feature rich compared to my old nokia. It is also feature rich when I look at my needs: alarm, phone, sms (it even has that auto-completion thingy). Anything beyond that I'm not using.

I have a Nokia E63 and a Nokia 6822 right now. Both are excellent for what I need. Also I still have an "antique" Nokia 5510, which still works (one of the first cellphones with a MP3 player and a full QWERTY keyboard). Never had any problems with them, even though the 5510 fell from the 2nd floor balcony straight on a rock, display-first (only the plastic was broken, actual display and phone intact).

Why not just put a screen lock on? No more butt dialing

A friend of mine (name's abel) . . .he knows he is most of the time the first contact in the list. . . so he often receives "erroneous" calls, he just picks up the phone and leaves it like that so the other guy gets charged

Lock and sleep buttons on BlackBerries are worthless. 3 minutes in your pocket and it's already unlocked and dialling some random numbers.

My old phone had an emergency unlock that allowed you to dial 911 if you pressed #. Lets just say that I have had a few awkward callbacks...

They pretty much all have an emergency 999/911 option, but whats the likeliness of accessing that and hitting JUST the right 3 numbers and then dialing?

Maybe you guys just wiggle a lot more :S

Well in the case of blackberries it comes down to poor design...

The Lock/unlock button is in the top left. that entire top piece is basically 1 big button with the way it feels when you press it. So if its in your pocket, etc. If the side of the phone gets bumped around or pressure is applied 2 it. then it'll unlock :/

HTC Hero rooted with 2.1.
I have had it for 8 months now. It's my second smartphone, before I had an SE P1i.

Only reason for the root is that Google after a year still haven't allowed payed apps most places. The root allows me to fool the phone into thinking I have a US or UK carrier so I can actually pay for the apps...
Other than that I found the phone to be very nice. While I will probably look at upgrading it in a year or 2 my next one will very likely be an android phone as well.

I currently have a HTC fuze with Energy firmware dualbooted with android 2.2 I actually use android more than the default OS.

When my contract is up in november with ATT I wanna get a dedicated android phone. So hopefully by then ATT gets more android phones besides the backflip

It already has two good ones. The HTC Aria and the Samsung Galaxy S.

Once upon a time I would have agreed, but I seriously urge you to reconsider. These days, the physical keyboard really is a dying technology. I know many users who got the physical keyboard for the same reason, who now regret the decision because of swype and because of the improvements that have been made to the virtual qwerty keyboard.

I definitely recommend that before you buy a phone, give the virtual touchscreen keyboard another serious look, and especially take a look at the Swype program on the Android phones. Go to an AT&T store or Verizon store and give it some serious evaluation. If you really dislike both of them, well the only good Android phones with the keyboard are the MyTouch Slide (Tmobile) and the upcoming Droid 2 (Verizon).

In the case of Swype, there is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it is immensely more convenient and much much faster than a full keyboard.

the virtual keyboard is annoying at first (since you always press a key you dont want to) . . .and thats why for a moment I preferred a physical keyboard where I can actually sense what key im pressing. . . but after getting used to the virtual keyboard, its much better. you ahve a bigger screen and dont have to see that ugly crammed keyboard all the time. and I rarely text in english so I dont use swype.
and every time i swipe fuck, it "guesses" duck.
