Seeding issue~~
« on: July 26, 2010, 11:30:12 AM »
Why can't i seed properlly even though i've set upload limit unlimited..??
Is it my connection problem?
I'm like downloading at 200-300kbs and only seed at NO or 0.1 - 0.2 kbs even i've completed the download..
Now i'm getting this warning issue so what should i do?

Obviously no searching or reading was done before this was posted. There have been countless of similar threads posted before.

Are you sure the torrent(s) you're seeding even has any leechers?

Even if no leechers, how am i going to DOWNLOAD one with leechers and seed them? They sent me a warning and said i'm only allowed to seed.

You're not supposed to download a new torrent. You're supposed to seed and wait for leechers to connect on the torrents you've already finished.

When you seed slow, seed longer.

Speed = data/time
data = Speed x time

So to seed more data, you either seed quickly, and if you can't do that, you seed for a longer period of time.

Don't ask how you can seed more quickly, because 99% of the time you can't. If you don't believe me, do a forum search.

Please read the FAQ and other guides before coming back. And we'll know if you've read the FAQ, so make sure you do it.

Like it's said in the FAQ, download from other places and seed it here. And don't forget that BBT is a semi-public tracker. Though now i am starting to think it is completely public, seeing as how even the hentais can be downloaded as a guest.  :o

other parts I read with absolute sorrow,  because I think them utterly false and grievously mischievous...

Whether or not certain material is restricted to non-members is irrelevant. What defines a private tracker is individual user stat tracking. If that goes (which I highly doubt it will ever), then it's fully public.

Yes, seeding a freeleech torrent should help alot. Especially if it is a 1080p series or movie, as those are constantly being downloaded.

I see.. thanks.. What's a safe ratio? Like i'm at 0.038.. What should i get in order to download again?

Personally I would get to 1.0+ before I downloaded again, but you should be ok with a smaller torrent if you have 0.3 - 0.5 ratio.  I don't think there is a set ratio to have before you are unwarned, but probably about 0.1 - 0.2 sounds about right.

In case you're among the 1% you should:
1) configure your router and firewall properly so they don't block all connections indiscriminately.
2) Find out whether your ISP throttles/blocks torrents.

If 2) is the case, then you really can do almost nothing. Except forcing your client to use encryption, that might help. But only if your ISP really is interfering with the data you transmit, otherwise it might make your torrent transfers even slower.

You can run these tools: http://www.measurementlab.net/measurement-lab-tools.html and see if your ISP really is screwing with your connection.
But my money is on lots of seeders and no leechers.

Yes, you can do that. It's recommended if you have a low ratio.

FTFY.

i wouldn't recommend it. it's like going to a charity, eating at the buffet but donating nothing to the cause - aka being an asshole :P
There is a huge difference between "not forbidden" and "recommended" - don't make it sound like it's good practice.
if you don't want to deal with a ratio: download everything using the public torrent public, but don't pretend to be an upright seeder by seeding it with your private key afterwards - that's just pathetic in my eyes.
