Can only access BT immediately after computer startup.

Hi all,
Here's a new one for me. I can't access the bakabt domain via my browser, torrent client, or even ping it from the command prompt after about three minutes after a boot. For those three-or-so minutes I'm able to upload torrents, browse the site and forums and the world is fine. Then, spontaneously, I get an ambiguous "Unable to connect" error from my browser so quick, it's like it didn't even send the request and the command prompt sends back an immediate "General error" after every packet. What's more is that it's not my connection, I'm typing this up on my wife's computer which is on the same network, so the 'right-after-boot' error isn't a fluke. Even used some random google-lab's tool to see if my ISP is tainting my connection, and it returned clean. Running out of ideas, I checked to see if my hosts file had (for whatever reason) now included bakabt.com - which it isn't. To the best of my knowledge, I haven't done any modification to my system that would bring this on. Other than booting in safe mode to check if the default system processes are the problem, how can I troubleshoot this? Also, not windows firewall...
[Edit:] 4 months later, I finally reformatted & reinstalled my OS. This fixed the problem. It should also be noted that simply reinstalling didn't fix the problem, the partition needed to be wiped so there wasn't any carry-over. Now that it's fixed, I still have no idea what it was that caused it, or how exactly the wipe fixed it. Still, though I'd update this post to say the problem was remedied.
Mirgond:
Try another DNS server like opendns. And don't forget to flush your local DNS with ipconfig /flushdns in the console.

Thanks for the quick reply, but that didn't help. I'm set up on OpenDNS and ran 'ipconfig /flushnds' unfortunately to no avail.
blubart:
is it possible you are running peerblock or something similar that might block bakabt?
Xiong Chiamiov:
Can you connect using the IP, rather than the hostname?
