Break Blade
« on: August 01, 2010, 04:30:34 AM »

Just watched the first episode of this OVA done by gg and it was an ok watch. The animation level of course was very good. The characters were your stereotypical mecha genre characters. I could say more but all in all I will just say it's an ok watch to waste time on.

One thing I will praise, the OP theme song: "Fate" by Kokia (click to listen) is one of the best OP's I have heard for an OVA period. Not saying it's THE best. But it's really an awesome song.

Back on topic:
Being that it's a 6 part OVA separated into 50 minute parts it will take a while before all 6 are done. Needless to say, aside from the theme song, I am not exactly waiting on pins and needless for each to be released. So, I will be waiting till the whole damned thing is finished before watching the rest. Waiting a month or more between each installment is too much time for me. I would recommend the first episode as a watch though since I know a lot of people may actually like this more than I personally do.

You're saying that this is the OVA. So what's the name of the real series?
The thing is that I remember everything that happened in the first OVA episode and that I've watched the same thing before but not the whole series.
Just can't find what I saw I don't know how long ago.

You most probably read the manga since it's based on that manga and the term OVA doesn't always imply that a series was its predecessor/successor...

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

There was no previous OVA or series related to this. The 6 planned OVA's are stand alone from the manga counterpart. Incidentally, downloading the raw for the second part as I type this.

So you're implying that I've had 50 minutes of déjà vu feeling?

You said it, I didn't...

Either you have a fabricated case of Déjà vu like you said or you have watched the same part to this OVA twice.

Maybe you seen it labelled as one of the following previously in the past?

Broken Blade
ブレイク ブレイド
Bureiku Bureido

And here is the official site if you want to use that as a reference as well.

ブレイク ブレイド

This is most likely what I've done. I read manga 24/7 half a year ago and must've read some of it there. Though I can't confirm it since OneManga has had it's viewer shut down. Can't find anywhere else to look at it anywhere. Got a tip for me?

Thank you. Though I can't recall reading that either. Guess I just have to accept the situation. Still waiting for "you can't spell faggots without us" to sub ep 2.

Huh its prob just a type but isn't it "Broken" not "Break", sonder if they could fix the title of the thread?

Anyways just watched the first one, and at first it didnt seem that interesting but I did like the graphics and idea behind the anime.

Thing that was making not like it that much was that it was the classic nobb jumps into high-tech mech and becomes OP UberOwn the world thing lol

When spoken in Japanese the actual words are "Bureiku Bureido". Hence, Break Blade. The english  copies of the manga were subsequently translated to "Broken Blade" simply because pure english speakers consider "Break Blade" to be another case of engrish gone awry...

Therefore, since "Broken Blade", although is a correct translation to english and thus more pleasing to english speakers, I chose to use the name which is closer to the original and dismiss the english stamp of approval on this one.

Um they talk how they talk. It may be backwards from your point of view but it's more definitely never "toilet to go I need" either...

If you were referring to there writing system(?), the more traditional writing method would be Tategaki. With that they write there character in columns writing from top to bottom and supposed to be read from right to left. A tategaki style book also opens from the opposite side. i.e. the back of a western book would be the front of a Tategaki style book. But even when this method is in use, no, they don't talk backwards...

Incidentally, they also use a style called yokogaki. It's pretty much the same format your used to. i.e. left to right.
