So... is this possible? [W7 Mod]
(1/1)
Louise:
I've edited so many things so far in windows 7, and now its a battle with the logon screen. Simply put I have is set so I have to enter BOTH my username & password to access my desktop. so I have no use for the display picture frame at the logon screen, Ive looked for awhile on google to no avail. same thing for changing the windows logo during the W7 boot sequence... Ive been searching DLL's and MUI's for the past 2hrs with Resource hacker with no luck.
You guy's have always been useful and informative when it comes to tech, so I hope someone can help clear this up, get it done, or explain thats its not within my limits to do this stuff.

If this is the boot screen you're talking about, I found this with a quick search through Google.

Another quick google search for the user name and password:

Dunno if that's what you need. Just putting it out there.
Edit: Ah, actually, that first link went unanswered, now that I read it more closely.
Edit2: For your second question, I think this thread might be the most informative. Looks like it's a pain in the ass though. =X

You can download logon programs that can be customized with different looks, assuming that any work with W7, I have one for XP, but I haven't looked if any of them work with W7.

Thanks for trying :( unfortunetly... I alrdy have that done, the downside to that is that the image field is blank and looks kinda ugly so thats what I wanted to remove. as for the bootscreen link yeah everything seems to be unanswered like that in what I find.

No, the boot screen can't be modified.
bootres.dll and winload.exe hold the stuff related to the boot animation/loading. Both files are protected by digital signatures. If windows detects that they have been modified (probably via a hashcheck) one of the following will happen:
a) the files be replaced with a backup
b) system will boot straight to recovery mode and replace the files with the original ones.
c) nothing will be displayed on boot / fallback to old vista bootloader animation.
The only way to change the boot animation/picture is to find a way to replace (with reshacker) the original animation/picture with the one you want, then digitally sign the file(s). For that, you need a certificate, and some special tools to sign the file. This information here might help, but it's painful and risky to do all that just to change a picture. Just disable it completely or make it display the verbose OS loading procedure (with msconfig).
