First of all, comparescreenshots was a complete unknown for me ... Thanks for the idea ! (Letting users compare screenshots of various releases ... Reminds me that there are still volunteers developing services with their brains instead of their ........ ;D)
Samurai Champloo [Blu-Ray 1080p]_Cman21 (Anime Take) is better than the [a-s] release if screenshots were taken in same condition. So, if comparescreenshots is reliable source for comparing screenshots of releases, changing request to Anime Take release will be better ... if possible.
Zalis116:
Pretty much everything I've read on ANN/AoD about the US Samurai Champloo DVD release indicates that
1) The show was digitally animated in SD, so the BDs are upscales. (Meaning that the gain is questionable in 720p-rips, let alone 1080p)
2) Funi went overboard with digital noise reduction and other filtering during the upscaling, meaning that the BDs look worse (less detailed) than the DVDs.
I'd expect the same problems to carry over to the BD-rips.
One source:
--- Quote ---Samurai Champloo is an upscale, and they went way overboard with noise reduction. It actually has less detail than the original Geneon DVDs. It might look sharper or crisper to people because of the edge enhancement, but as far as I'm concerned the video is a downgrade from the DVDs, though the audio is an improvement.

So basically, comparisons should also be done with the DVD-rips upscaled to 1920x1080 to see if there's actually anything gained in the Blu-Ray versions. No point in having people DL bloated 1080p rips if player upscales of the 480p videos will look the same or better.

Damn ... Everything is getting more, and more, and more ... technical. BTW, [a4e] release was ok for me until ;
--- Quote ---However if you're a fan of untainted shows, you might want to steer clear as they tend to flash a very ugly hard-subbed (video embedded) yellow sign of their subbing group name and IRC channel.

Then I look for the [af-f] release but English hard subs are not an option for me. (I prefer watching with Turkish subtitles, as you may see my English sux ... ;D)
So there is only one option left, I ll take the [NP-Complete] release.
Request filled. Zalis116, thank you for the information ... I am enlightened ... ;D

Well, there are many more options than NPC, just not on BakaBT. FWIW, I have a-S's DVD rips, and don't remember any issues with them.

This. I guess I should wait till mods decide which one (if any).
btw, that ss comp shows a-s's one is better imo.
