Apads anyone bought it?
« on: August 09, 2010, 07:27:46 PM »
This is the review link : http://www.linuxnewsnow.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=509&Itemid=619&lang=en

Its basically a clone/copy of ipad at a much cheaper price. Its about US$150 about a third of the iPad cost. Uses AndroidOS too.

Specs:

Video of it:

I might get it next time to play around as a toy and even read manga scans on it. Watching 720p on a 7'' is pretty dumb tho. >.<

Ever heard of the copy of the iphone called something like wiphone?

It might have the same shape and looks of an ipad, but the specs and OS are most certainly not.

I'd rather get an ipad, even if its alot more expensive.

The CPU is not even listed btw.

IIRC, an ipad has 512mb of ram, whilst this got 128 (with a silly plus for some reason), the ipad runs on the A4 1GHz cpu, and runs the iOS 4.
The res on the ipad is 1024 x 768, while this runs 800x600.

Nor did i ever like android.

No I can't get into the whole tablet PC thing quite yet.  They just don't do anything that i need that my computer or phone can't do.

I've played with a lot of them, they are cool and all, but i get bored with them after about 10 min.

I just want a tablet cum ebook reader. No phone software and gimicks. I just want something I can attach to my macbook pro to help me do photoshop and illustrator work and see that work under the pen.

I don't know if you can pick these up in the UK, but the intous touch pads work really well for what you are trying to do.  Personal Favorate is the intous4 Large and if you have the money the cintiq-21 touch screen but you'll have to fork out about $2k USD for it.....

^ I never realised that had a screen in it. My local CEX has an A5 one in, and now I'm tempted to get that instead of a new camera lens!

Wow, that's a tough choice.  I know it is off topic but what lens are you looking at?

On topic - the intous stuff is really pretty good.  I've played with them, and they easy to use, though i have never used the one with the full color screen on it.

It would be nice though if apple put out a tablet that had more external connections.  Then i might actually think about it.  You know for USB, SATA, HDMI, or Firewire.  That way you wouldn't have to dock the damn thing whenever you wanted to use it.

Amen to the better tablet. I was expecting so much of it and they completely failed.

And I'm not sure. Just a better zoom lens as the one I currently have has jamming problems.

That Sucks...  I would be a bit ticked if i got jamming problems, especailly on a $400 USD lense

KIRF or shanzhai products are 99% shit. In rare occasions you may find some that aren't utter garbage.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

ipad is not a tablet computer. It can only do one thing at a time. It's just an oversized iphone without the phone.

As said before, dont... I got a i9+++ sciphone 3GS clone once, it was good for about a week. after that, I had to put a slip of cardboard paper in the battery compartment so the battery would touch the connectors (it was total crap) a month after that, the charging cable broke. did I mention the touch screen wasnt so great either? It wasnt very responsive at all. So eventually due to $$ issues, caved for a real 2G & its been 150% better. Basically, clones are garbage. i'de say keep that $150 from going to waste, and either save up for the real thing (if you must have it) or keep your eyes on craigslist even for a used ipad (be careful with that)
