he is also happy because she likes him, being a fat guy not many people like you, and he probably feels like he is dependable, if they don't stray too far with the story you will understand more about this later on, Hirano is a really cool character, definitely not a pedophile, at least not the impression I had from reading the manga.

thats how I felt when someone mentioned my Saya hooking up with him. . .
and no. . .this is debating like friends not discussing like enemies ;D :)

and Saeko is on my good side so I wouldnt really like if she hooks up with him (it was just to tease Eseuldor which IIRC is Saeko fan)

too late for excuses now mate, I'm a big fan of Saeko's as well, at the very least you could have hook him up with Rei, teasing like that with Saeko is bad for your karma :P

also, Rei redeems herself along the way, so I will stop hating her unless the director will go too far with deviating from the story, don't understand why he does it, so stupid I can't even describe it.

Edit:
I have spent a few minutes and been constantly re-watching the preview over and over again.

I noticed something and we are a bit mistaken, Saeko doesn't get the sword, the one in that small shrine is a part of the Buhdda Statue and in the later screens, she uses her wooden sword still. If them being separated at this stage is only a short time, I don't mind them showing the true Saeko now, especially if what I think will happen by the end of the second half of the next episode will happen it will be quite funny. Still, Deviating from original Manga content is not a good idea, and they done so several times already, it didn't affect much the main story, but they start doing it more visible, and more annoying.

Thing is they need to compress the 26 chapters in the manga into a 12 episode anime show. You can't expect things to be exactly the same. Plenty of series have had to deviate a little from there comic book point of origin and turned out to be just fine. At least for me.(Probably because I do not keep a list of pre-ordained ideas of what happened to an exacting detail since I don't read manga for that very reason. Manga spoils Anime.)

I don't know where you're looking but I see a katana on the floor beside her leg.

I wish you guys hadn't ben complaining so much over the Bullets over Boingway. I paid way too much attention over the wrong things watching that. Sure it's physically impossible, what in anime isn't?

BUt that isn't to say I had zero problems with that scene. One; what the hell was that guy thinking shooting at, near, around his companion, when he knows, he can't even aim for bat turds? Two; that Saeko was wearing a different pair of panties than she wore the night before, and so when we got her close-up, we couldn't tell if the violence got her all excited or not! Damn it!

I did think the scene was an homage to Beijing Opera, and martial arts films coming out of China. It was a stylized ballet of sorts, and I thought looked good.

If this show played out into the future say 5 or 10 years, I'm sure we would see most men with harems. Because any guy worth anything is probably dead from saving people. And someone has got to re-populate the planet. They may not be harems as we think them, but the males will be breeder studs for servicing the females, but monogamy will still probably be the more consistent theme. Alpha female will get status and goods for "renting" out her alpha male.

I didn't see a Katana, and at later screens she uses her wooden sword.
