Alright guys i caught up to the latest episode today with the friend that started watching it with me. All in all i gotta say... meh. It has some serious potential. I'm really starting to love some chars (Wewt Saeko! she just grows cooler and cooler) and hate others (god i hate the nurse and Rei, i hope they both eat it). The problem is the fanserice is REALLY killing it for me. They seem to have limited throwing it in the middle of intense scenes as much, but they will still have it far too often, too intense, and sometimes right after a dramatic important scene. I.E.
Right after the lolis dad died and Takashi did the touching 'burial' your treated right away to those ugly boobs jiggling like jello
Episode 8's incredibly stupid sniper rifle jiggling and boob dodging matrix effect almost made me say to hell with the show. That was so disgusting. They didn't even look like boobs, they seriously looks like grotesquely overinflated waterballons with some slack on them rippling around. Honestly the fanservice is bringing what could be a 7 or an 8/10 show for me down to about a 4 or 5/10. Episode 9 kinda made up for it though. God damn Saeko was awesome in that! I loved her when she first showed up, but she just gets cooler and cooler. Plus, now we get some good character development. For her
One question though that was very puzzling to me though: Did Takashi tap that in the temple?? That was very confusing but it sure seems like it. After confessing her past she closes in and they obviously at least kiss.. then it just fades to black and you have them the next morning. Plus she asks him to 'take responsibility for it' .. which sounds like she means her deflouring. Thats when you usually hear that term. Though if they DIDNT do it then it could refer to taking responsibility for telling her to be herself and go wild. Im very confused. WTF happened! Im hoping he tapped that and they're a couple now so Rei's head could explode >_<
Hopefully someone knows what went on there. maybe the manga makes it clear one way or the other. Anyway, bottom line is the show is interesting me enough to keep watching to see what happens to the characters. The ecchi is just horrible though and drags the show down a LOT. If it was at least better drawn i may not hate it quite as much, but its so grotesque that i cant stand it.
I also can NOT STAND REI! now that im this far she just gets worse and worse as the series goes on. Seriously why is Takashi even putting up with her crap? Go with Saeko (has he already?) or even Saya. Jesus' id almost rather he go after the little girl or have some gay love fest with Kouta than spend one more second listening to her incessant bitching. Episode 06 just had me fuming sooooo much! What was with that? 'bitch bitch bitch Hisashi.. ok now im gonna make out with you'
so in the end there are several pluses and minus's for me
+Saeko!
+Zombie bashing action, usually most visceral with Saeko!
+Has a 'whats gonna happen next' feeling to it that keeps you watching
+Good art for the zombies and most male characters
+Action scenes are over the top and entertaining
+Seems like theyre finally starting to have some character development going on (ep 09 saeko)

-Horribly excessive and intrusive ecchi thrown in far too often

-Ecchi is not even drawn well, the boobs look horrible!

So far Saeko and seeing what happens to the crew nex is keeping me going. We'll see how much longer that lasts.
BTW between the 2 groups i think i'm leaning to GG a bit more. They both have their flaws and GG is a bit loose with their translation and seems off sometimes, while TMD is a lot more literal. There is also the whole honorifics and -chan -senpai thing. GG seems to do away with them in their own way and TMD leaves them. I.e. wigh GG the whore nurse says: Kohta cutie! and in TMD she says Kouta-chan.
The real problem though is that TMD has had me just go 'wtf' several times. The most recent example i remember is in the scene in episode 06 with Rei and Takashi, i actually compared them side by side since TMD made no sense.. heres TMD's version:

That was very poorly translated IMO. The fail of "Listening to me about complain why i stayed back a year" is overshadowed by the simple fact that i really dont even get what they were trying to say. Im assuming this is just totallys crewed up.

That made a crap ton more sense to me! That total Fail on TMD's part has me leaning to GG. However, the problem is GG seems to kinda flub u the little things, and is a bit loose. I.e. Right before the above scene when Saeko is cooking in the apron the little bit of dialog right before that whore Rei pulls him away goes like this:

its a more minor thing, but i really doubt she says acting helpless there. Mentioning being embraced would explain the light blush afterward, and also implies helplessness. Thats the problem ive seen: TMD seems to do better on the little stuff, but they drop the ball seriously for some other scenes. That Rei/Takashi scnene seems to be a complete screw up in both editing and translation.
One other example of GG's poor choice of words was in ep 04 when Rei uses that 'saite' line on takashi. You hear that a lot in anime and it usually is translated over to 'your the worst'. Im not sure if thats its offical meaning (anyone know?) But in this case going with something other than that just sounds very strange Heres GG vs TMD for it

in this case you kinda get the point in both versions but GG's just sounds wrong. saying 'the worst' and the best makes a lot more sense than GG's 'someone who's awesome' screwy translations. Thats just an example but there are other instances where GG just sounds off. Hell i dunno i'll probably just watch them back to back now that im caught up and see what group im gonna keep going with. I thought id just post that for everyone to compare in case someone was trying to chose a group. Out of curiosity, now that the series is this far, who are you guys using,
GG or TMD? I seem to recal way back when there were only a few epps out most were going with GG because they were the fastest.
