Male or female?
flyawave:
It's less about not handling it, and more lots of it being cringy, facepalm inducing fail. Humorous at times though, it has its place

--- Quote from: eclectic on June 18, 2011, 06:49:06 PM ---i don't know how any BBT girls stomach the hyper-masculanized sex-speak all over the forum.
i think i just made up some words...

it's pretty easy to get used to i guess. some even use these terms themselves.
eclectic:
to clarify, the comment was less about the sex speak, it is more about it being gendered.
and i didn't mean it as a judgment. just an observation. my day job is as a sociologist. can't turn the damn analysis switch off anymore....
Kyrdua:
eh? well mine was just my guts speaking. But now you got me interested.
what exactly do you mean by "gendered"? being previously a psychology
student i guess you can say my curiosity on this things can no longer be
turned off as well. ;D
eclectic:
by gendered i mean that there are very masculine ways of talking/joking about sex - terms, actions, roles, etc - which may be consciously or subconsciously alienating if you aren't a male.
i probably don't need to supply examples. but you can imagine (or i can...maybe i'm wrong) a female reader being like, "uh, right. sure...."
again, just an observation.
and maybe i should throw out there that i am a guy. didn't know if that was clear. so i am not speaking for myself. any girls who want to correct me are more than welcome.
