zoom player full screen blank
« on: August 27, 2010, 03:57:55 AM »
I like the way that zoom player works, so I was using it on my HTPC. My dog jumped on me and hit the keyboard while it was in full screen and now when in full screen mode, the screen is blank. However, if I play a file, if the player isn't in full screen, it plays normally.

Any idea what the command is to undo this?

What hotkey do you use for full screen?

Try hitting Z(oom) and then M(ax).

Hmm I'll give it a try later tonight. Worst case scenario, I hope a clean install will fix it.

just re install the player

The HTPC didn't have internet so I couldn't re-dl the player. I was just bored at work today so I decided to ask prior to reinstalling. (Z + M) sounds easier to do if it indeed works.

It should, if you didn't change any hotkey settings. What version?

It works for 6.0 Home Max, for sure. I don't see any reason for it to not work on later versions, but earlier ones may not have the feature.
If in doubt or doesn't work, check your hotkeys and look for the zoom and maximize hotkeys in the settings. I believe you right click anywhere to get to them.

Not sure which one. Just the free one I grabbed off downloads.com after a quick google.

I prefer zoom player over MPC. I know I'm a minority.

Eh, I do too. It's a lighter player, or at least it seems to be to me. I haven't looked at actual CPU/RAM usage but for me it loads much faster than MPC (MPC usually takes a few seconds more) and has a nice interface.

If you grabbed a free one off Downloads.com you probably have a trial version. ZoomPlayer is payware. At least, it was last time I checked.

No... it's like many free antiviruses. There's a free "crap" version with less functions, and a "pro" version with all the functions.

Z+M didn't work, but M+Z did. Weird.

Anyways, it's all good now. :D

You didn't press both at the same time, did you? =P
Z goes into "Zoom mode" or something, which basically gives you the image on a black screen. If you never entered that mode before, it should show the image unresized starting at the top left, and then M (maximize) should give it an imitation full screen mode. The size of the image in "Zoom mode" is retained.

If you have a newer version than 6, it might work differently. Well, whatever.

Z is like fullscreen. (AKA Zoom)
M is maximize

Of course not at the same time. I pushed in sequence. Z + M didn't work, so I pushed Z again and then went M then Z which worked.
