Metroid: Other M
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:10:36 AM »
Just spent some quality time with my copy... so far, amazing, and the opening cinematic just made me smile as it should for any Metroid fan. Controls are tight and switching between first and third person is almost seamless. The recharge system is set up to make the game a little more challenging (no drops) but a little challenge is a good thing.
I was a little iffy about the voices when I first saw the trailers but so far they're decent.
Only one small complaint so far and that is that, to me, it feels a lot more constricted than the prime trilogy in terms of the whole open world exploration factor of the games. so far it feels a little overly linear.

So far I like what Team Ninja has done with the series, and I haven't seen any jiggle physics in the game yet so it may disappoint some Dead or Alive fans.

Must go back to playing...

played at a mate's house, and damn I regret selling my wii...
like ya said, the controls are tight and responsive, and the graphics are pretty good too!
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

So after a grand total of about 9 hours story mode is complete... not a long game... but not a particularly easy game. Getting the true ending took a little longer but most of that was devoted to picking up missed powerups. When the main story ended I was actually a little mad since they didn't make it possible to collect all the powerups before the last battle but once you get past the credits and it lets you play again to collect everything/get the final ending it extended the play time to a respectable length. From a fanboy perspective I'm not to in love with the game, but overall I truly enjoyed it. Solid and very fluid controls (only lacking a missile button), halfway decent camera, decent storyline, some fun throwback moments for the fans, and fairly challenging (haven't died that much in a Nintendo game for a long, long, time).
