Mkvmerge 4.2.0 does NOT include ASS in the muxed MKV

(1/1)

Sakura90:
Hi!

I recently updated to mkvmerge 4.2.0 ("No Talking"). It works fine except it doesn't, in any case, include the input ASS files in the final muxed MKV. I tried by command line and with the GUI. Whatever ASS file I give it as input, it completly ignores it. It does, however, include the rest of the tracks and even the attached fonts. I also tried with different ASS and MKV files, but it's all the same. The only thing it does is showing the ASS file in the progress window while muxing. Version 3.4.0 worked fine with everything, I'll have to roll back to that :-\. I just wanted to know what happened to the newest version. Something so basic as inputing a subs file doesn't work :(. Is it me or someone really fucked up the 4.2.0?

I had screens, but I'm not at home now (crappy connection goes down when it rains xD). I'll try to upload them later.

solution: disable header compression

halfelite:
Header compression is evil and is a worthless option. just to save .06% of space

It's been part of the Matroska specs for years. More like the developer of your playback solutions are lazy at implementing the whole specs.

The v4.2.0 of mkvtoolnix has a bug that stops it from copying the ass-file into the container, relevant links;

You have to try one of the pre-release versions after v293, or use an older version than v4.2.0.

....You'd think the frontpage at bunkus would already have replaced the download with a version that corrects this bug, as it's a month old and fixed in the later pre's?...
