This is so fail. For one being a nerd does not instantly make you ugly no matter what nationality you are. :/ And for another, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd steer clear of a guy who thinks computer programming is a good substitute for a real girlfriend.

Oh be a realist... If a girl dated a nerdy guy, she would never have to worry about him cheating, treating her badly, or anything else that dick guys do.

Nah, I can quite clearly tell you thats wrong. My ex was the nerdiest guy around and he was a dick. Although I think he would rather have sex with his computer anyway, so maybe this game is for him! :p

Well then, I am sorry for stating a fallacy in your situation. Some people are just TOO weird for their own good. 

But trust me, when you havn't had a girlfriend in 3 or 4 years... it's a little disheartening and you get lonely, that's why they created a game like that... to kinda take the edge off of the loneliness. Hell, that's why I love watching school related animes, because of my lost of innocence in becoming an adult. I never really got to experience innocence in the sense of dating a girl like in animes, but animes provide the escape and I somehow don't feel as lonely anymore.

Hell, imagine all those people who might feel the same way... wouldn't they want something to take the edge off of loneliness?

From what I understand from the article, theres a special "barcode" on statues that appears into digital cameras as a anime character next to you. Sure you can do it with photoshop too I guess. About these virtual girlfriends, today it's already 'weird' for the whole world to see but wait 'til the future comes. I wonder if there would be AR glasses like in Denno Coil? Instead of cyber-pets there would be cyber-girlfriends. Also, in Time of Eve, would there actually be dori-keis if androids were to co-exist with humans? As the technology advances, I bet the 'weirdness' of the world goes with it. Maybe these are just perceptions, but the future is the future.

My only advice would be go out the world and have fun. Don't limit yourselves to such digital and unreal things. Although I guess experiencing it just for the sake of it wouldn't hurt. Just don't forget your being human.

what i meant with fooling themselves is what you said about hookers
people look down on hookers, by doing something ridiculous such as this instead they fool themselves into thinking it's a "classy" and good alternative

You know actually i feel like people in Japan have their issues....but i am realising that woman nowadays are not like they used to be....although i never had problems finding them i repeat i believe that some others dont find it so easy because you know they may have some psychological problems caused by women that they liked but they did not return their feelings......i dont know i am trying to stop saying that i feel sorry for them.

Dating in japan seems to be going on a "strike" or stalemate of sorts, environment is too stressful / evolution was too fast in this area / each side keeps complaining about being too petty etc etc.
