Blurring, Grain and Chroma Issues in MPEG-2 Video

(1/2) > >>

KaworuKun:
I have had a continuing problem in trying to encode a Berserk trailer and the Berserk Forces Full Version from my Berserk complete remastered collection from Animeworks. This is a complicated problem and hard to summarize. I've had no success with other forums, as of yet, in fixing the problems with these videos. Here are some threads in which I discussed the problems I am having with the videos:

Blurring and Discoloration in .VOB

info About Chroma Upsampling

I was hoping that I could get advise/help from some fansub groups on this matter since they have so much experience encoding anime. Specifically I was wondering if Exiled-Destiny could help, as they've done a release of the Berserk from the same DVD set that I ripped the videos from.

I doubt they're roaming around these forums, man. :-\

As for the bitrate, use CRF encoding instead; CRF 16-19. 16 being the one that will give you the best quality, but most of the time oversized encodes.

Where would they be? Are there any fansub groups on here?

OK. Will that fix the blurring? Or is the problem being caused by multiple things?

Heres your main problem:

--- Quote from: Sep02_Doom9 ---What answers? I see no specific advice anywhere. Bitrate to low? Chroma upsampling? Well then why doesn't someone specifically state what bitrate should be used and how to correct the chroma upsampling?

Two days is hardly any time at all to read, think, experiment... you just can't expect this sort of thing to come out right straight away, because it's a complicated process. You're spending way too much time on forums asking people to lead you by the hand, when in actuality it's just about impossible for them to know the exact right settings and fixes without experimenting themselves.

You gotta take the time to play around and read around on your own, and when you come back with more specific questions, people will be better equipped to help you and you will be better equipped to understand the answers. If you want Exiled Destiny to do it for you, leech their rips, it's cool, thats why they made them. If you want to do it yourself, you have to be prepared to put in some effort.

I don't mean this in any sort of harsh way. You've had so much advice in the last few days that I am absolutely certain that you can't have researched and fully tested even a fraction of it. If you can't get the tools you've got to work, try others. Play with some other video. I would suggest getting a handle on the encoding, then move on to the rip itself. See every failure as another lesson, and when the hard-work (reading the boring stuff) is getting too much, have some fun with it - just do whatever the hell you feel like and see what happens.

KaworuKun:
The whole point of asking for help in a video forum is that you DON'T know how to solve the problem yourself and are seeking the the advice of those with more knowledge of video encoding than you. I suggest you stop wasting your time posting useless, lame insults.

If someone wants to actually give a specific suggestion to try and HELP, that's one thing; Posting condescending, rude, and wasteful statements that in no way give any real help towards solving the problem is another thing. So if anyone feels like posting the latter, maybe they should just not post at all.
