Anyone figured out how to disable the Vuze media player?
« on: September 07, 2010, 02:59:28 AM »
Vuze has added a player to their torrent program that doesnt like most anime files for some reason.

Anyway, I have my windows defaults set to media player classic, but when I double click a media file in Vuze it plays through their crappy player.
In the past it was in the plugins area of options, you could just disable it, but now its not there.

I have asked on the Vuze forums, but they want to help you use it, not help you get rid of it, so no help there at all.

Glad I stopped using Vuze. ;)

Why can't you throw in the intermediary step of "Open containing folder" and then opening from there? It only takes an extra couple seconds, unless your computer is really slow when opening Explorer...

Are you sure you told them that the player sucks balls and can't even play your files? That might provoke a more useful response from them.

Thats what I do now, I realize its a very small step, and take minimal effort, but it still bothers me. :D

Lol. No.
I simply asked if there was a option to disable it, like there has been in previous versions.

It might be time to find a new torrent program, Ive always liked Vuze, but every time the re haul it and make a new version I like it less and less.

Eh, there's a reason why most BBT members use uTorrent.

You can also downgrade to an older version that doesn't suck so hard.
I’m in your noun, verb-ing your related noun.

And uTorrent also has a Linux server version now too.

uTorrent server alpha, huh? Sounds interesting. I think I'll play around with it when I have time.

Anyway, back on topic...

Tools -> Options -> Interface -> Start -> Display Vuze UI chooser -> select classic.

Classic interface is basically Azureus without all the vuze crap attached, you can also disable/uninstall/delete the media plugins.

I'm still using 4.4 though, so they may have fiddled with things with the latest version. Hope this helps.

I'm using classic, but if I double-click a file it opens in the Vuze Media Player, but if I right-click and click open, it opens as usual.
Kaoru + Aoi + Shiho = Infinity
For video playback: madVR + CCCP 2011-11-11 (use the bundled version of MPC-HC)

I'm using classic view, and after updating from v4.4 to v4.5 I also coudn't turn off the crap player anymore.

Or at least I thought so.

It probably just needed a restart. Today I tried again and when I double-click an MKV it just opens the containing folder.

What I did was: Option->Plugins and then click the azemp plugin from the list, unchecked the checkbox at the beginning and clicked the button "unload".
