I don't get what this actually is about, so what if some of the users have some squares, maybe we worship some ancient internet devil or a goddess, there are a few users that have Tri-Force *points finger to the right* some of us have some completely messed up avatars, and Soughtrop is on cleaning duty all the time with Kirino wiping the window with her "rear" with Kyousuke's help, some other staff member is setting his fox ablaze all the time, and some even think I like sushi cuz I constantly have a cute Ika~chan avatar set.

the codes are actual codes, yes they actually mean something. they do not necessarily mean that someone who has it is a staff member. and the colors, shapes, location of the colors, and/or animation also mean something.
