Japanese manga has it too..

In fact, it was mentioned in 20th century boys about the hand pointing direction to how manga is read

Well I wont say they need the arrows on every page but they are there for poeple that have never read the work before. People that dont read manga much wont know that its read right to left. Just like someone that reads alot of manga and never manwha might not realize that manwha is read like english left to right. Alot of these books are sold in book stores were poeple that have never read these type of books before will see them.

I see.  How about having them only in the first volume, as anyone reading 2+ will have presumably read one and understand how it works. 

I'm under the impression that these arrows are not common, as I own 198 printed volumes but none have the arrows in them.

only weeaboo mangas have them like death note, bleach, naruto, etc.
