For similar reasons, Brits isn't particular offensive because it's what they called themselves in fondness.. Words come to gain associations, but they also lose those associations with passing generations.
I'd say if you enjoy wearing wifebeaters, you probably shouldn't use the word... And if you don't, you probably don't use the word anyway. What do you want to say? "Those Japs sure do know their sake!" ? "The Japs make great cartoons!" ? It really sounds awkward, when you consider the context that word is more familiar to.

Question: Wut's the story of Oh! My Goddess? Im thinking of buying it cuz many people say it's awesum, but i don't really know the plot. Hope someone can explain a little w/o telling the whole story rofl
