It isa shame that they have got only 2 shops... 1 in Helsini and on in Tampere...
IIRC the one that is in Helsinki is the larger one.. Havent visited the one that is in Tampere. But as I live in Tampere, maybe I visit it tomorrow.. :3

What has Punainen Jättiläinen published?
quick list for PJ
and quick list for Egmont

what I hate in Finland's manga publishing is that almost every manga is for girls (Shoujo-manga) or overrated shounen-shit.. (Naruto) *haters gonna hate*

Shoujo manga's the best, I have huge collection and I am boy.

:o

Naruto is overrated, true, but in the end a good manga.

Carlsen Manga has a lot of mainstream ones being Dragonball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Shaman King, One Piece, Death Note. They started out with Dragonball since it has a very wide audience = they had to make sure there would be people to buy once they started to pick up new manga. The same with your Egmont in Finland?

http://carlsen.dk/ (click manga)

I do hope some day that Carlsen will pick up Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. There's some group scanlating it, but they stopped doing it since OneManga's downfall. :(
I have approcahed them about it, but they're unsure if the manga will do well here in Denmark even though the Scandinavian countries are where the audience is biggest.

Since I live in Brazil, there's no much releases I enjoy (mostly shounen, which I don't like) So I buy what I can
Multiple Volumes:
  • Uzumaki
  • NGE (incomplete, till 20)
  • Battle Royale (incomplete, they never released the 3 last volumes, I had to read online >:()
  • Otomen (ongoing, till 5)
  • Homunculus (ongoing, till 8)
  • MPD Psycho (ongoing, till 13, 12 missing)
  • Highschool of the Dead (ongoing, till 3)
  • Abara (complete, 2 volumes)
One Volume:
  • Panorama of Hell
  • Ichi Rittoru no namida
  • Alice
(click to show/hide)
I guess I'll take a better picture later?

This is just a package I'm sending home from Japan. They're all second hand 105 Yen manga. I hope I can find Hikaru no go 22 tomorrow. The remaining Yakitate Japan will probably be for next trip as they're tough to find for that cheap price. I'll probably get the last Cross Game in new condition, heck it's just one volume remaining. I already have at home the rest of the Touch series (this and Miyuki are "deluxe" stuff, so Miyuki is actually complete with 5 volumes and Touch 11 is the last one) and a good deal of Atashi n'chi.

You can see a few rarities in there that don't even exist in our usual websites like MAL and manga-updates. For example Kuma Magoto 1&2 and the mote-mote kingdom (didn't check the opthers yet, but those two I added myself in MAL, as well as their authors ;D).

There's a lot more back home but they're all in boxes since I have been travelling for 2 & 1/2 years. Once I settle in a place again I'll come back with more pics.

Just one big backpack. I'm sending that case full of manga by boat mail (which costs more than the total value of what's in it, so yes I'm an idiot). It'll arrive home in a few months.

How come?

Hmmm... for one, I feel like to get the real feeling out of the reading experience I'm better off reading the Japanese ones.

The translated ones are often much more expensive, in some rare cases might be mistranslated, but all in all better for those who don't understand the language one bit. <- and I'm telling this because as a added reason I'm confident I understand the written language enough to read certain manga series. And even if I don't, I learn more kanji in the process :P

@DLTE

I feel you :// even though I understand Japanese and everything stated above, it hurt a bit inside to go sell the proof of what was the beginning of my collection in the first place. On the other hand it was some overly long shonen series that I can't keep up with and some yaoi that I no longer read that much :P

Urgh, its not that Japanese books are hard to find over here. ( There are 3 kinokuniya shops in my country ) But because kino sells the Japanese AND chinese AND English versions ( If its published o/c ) and usually the chinese version is cheapest...

So it leaves me to wonder: " Hey, theres the jap version which I don't understand, oh look theres a chinese version, I can read that and afford it at the same time! "

Chinese: $6-9
English : $16-22
Japanese : $14-93 (those packed with DVD/goodies combo)

So these are my new buys for today!

(click to show/hide)

So, my resolution to start building my Japanese collection died in less then 24hrs and yes. that Gyo manga's cover is holographic like a pokemon card :D

Ah, I was under the impression that you didn't understand Japanese, and went for the Japanese ones anyway.

I've only thought about doing it for manga that haven't been released in English yet. Mainly the Ginga Nagareboshi Gin franchise by Yoshihiro Takahashi. Though I still have some hope that we'll get a English or Danish publication.

Chinese?  Where do they sell, I can read traditional which is rare these days.  And $16-22 for english, that's so expensive!  In Canada, I can get them for around $10.

oh reminded me of the prices I pay, When  Iorder manga from the US it costs me about 10-15€ when buying Finnish translations it is 4-10€ :P it would be overly expensive for me to get Japanese or Chinese, simply because they don't sell them in Finland :P

Not really rare. Taiwan releases (Kadokawa, Tohan, Tongli) are Traditional. Dono about Hongkong. Chuang yi are simplified.
