Download speed problem?
« on: September 10, 2010, 12:58:44 PM »
Okay, it was all perfect till yesterday. Today, I don't know why but my dl speed has become HORRIBLE! I'm using utorrent 2.0.4.

Here's a pic of it -

What should I do? I have read the FAQ and wiki but I couldn't find anything useful for this problem!

try changing your utorrent port, but before set your BitTorrent protocol encryption to Force and don't allow legacy connections.

if it is not already configured like this, that is.

But I thought allowing legacy connections help to increase the dl speed?

And is it possible to find an open port without using the portforward app?

Does your IP have shaping?

What does that mean? Sorry, I'm really not good at this stuff.

Find an open port? Normally utorrent can configure the port and test it through Options > Setup Guide.

But that is if you have your own internet connection with a simple adsl/cable setup. If you are behind a corporate firewall/router then you might still succeed with encryption using the same port you have been using up until now.

If the utorrent setup guide fails, let's talk.

Does your IP have shaping?

That's what I am guessing

OK, it says that my port is open. What to do? It still doesn't help!

utorrent is assigned to a new port and protocol encryption is Forced and incoming legacy connections are disabled

and still doesn't help!

oh it's bad  ::)

I don't know if this is related, but I have also had some problems. I am also using utorrent 2.0.4. and for nearly two days I tried to download "Battle Athletess Daiundoukai". While there usually have been at least three seeders, I had yet to receive 1 kB of download as can be seen in the attached photo.

During this time I have been uploading to BakBT at ~ 170kB/s and have down loaded 2 other torrents from BakaBT at up 2MB/s. I PM'd the people who where seeding this torrent and denbeste dedicated his 200kb/s upload to just that torrent. I still received nothing.

Then TheSky started downloading it and I have connected to him and I am currently downloading at ~ 48kB/s. However, I can not connect to anyone else. So long as he stays connected I have no problem with the current situation. I have PM'd him and asked him to continue to seed now that he has completed his download. However, I don't know whats going on?   :-[ Any suggestions?  ???

Well, it basically means that you have a download limit set by your IP, and when you reach it your speeds are throttled terribly for the rest of the month

The other seeders aren't seeding the file at the time you are downloading. You just have to be patient really... happens to me sometimes.

No that's not it, as I stated denbeste dedicated his 200kb/s upload to just that torrent and I could tell by his stats that he connected with TheSky . I still am not connected to him although he is still solely dedicated to that torrent, it just seems odd. It maybe some kind of glitch in utorrent 2.0.4. TheSky is also using utorrent 2.0.4.

Maybe I didn't completely download utorrent 2.0.4. and can only connect with other people who use it, I don't know I'll check with another torrent.

Edit: This is not the case I'm current downloading Koihime Musou OVA at over 1.3MB/s from many different clients.

Try to install uTorrent v.1.8.5.

Can you please describe how that can help? I'm a bit confused here. I am suspecting that my ISP is throttling for some reason, so, I am thinking to give it some time.

Well, as far as I know, there's no download limit.  :-\

Try ringing your IP. I was with an IP once that said they didn't shape, but they did every month because they are douchebags. When we rang them to complain they always apologised and said they'd fix it, but they never did. I'm with a much better one now~ There is still shaping but my download limit is good (220GB per month not including uploads)

Nope, I'm in Bangladesh, next to India.

[edit]

My ISP is limiting my downloads. Glitchhunter was right:'(

[EDIT]

OMG! It's fixed now! I prayed to God for this. :')

Yeah, I'm still only connected with TheSky, as long as he keeps seeding for another 5-6 hours I'll be fine and I've had no problem with any other torrent. So I'm not worried about it, but I do find it odd.

Edit: Looks like the Port Forwarding kicked in about 30 min. after I did it and it's now done with the downloading.

Thanks for the help!  ;D

I noticed that limiting your upload also handicaps your download (When I limit my upload to 1kb/s, I can't download over 3kb/s)
