the wrist reminded me when i broke a glass jar and picked up the bottom of it, then my sister slammed her hand on it and i had a round circle open on my palm, if it didn't hurt a lot I could just take out the entire skin circle off it, I was around 7 years then, them good times :D

i nearly broke my leg jumping off the garage roof :] lots of fun climbing trees, not so much falling from em :] didn't happen often thankfully XD

I think your case with your knee was much worse than my knee where i could see the bone :D

your pain was quite different from mine, good to know it toned down a great deal, I don't recommend getting electrocuted though, not funny, though I did laugh every time :)

I also remembered another thing that happened to me, i didn't injure myself or anything, it happened twice honestly, first time was when I fell into the well head down, nearly drowned myself, though neither me or anyone at the time knew how I got out of it, it was so cramped rolling around and changing position was impossible for me, have no idea how i menaged, maybe I instinctively bended my body parts (legs and arms) to work around it, was young so it was possible, I  was very flexible back then, not so much nowadays,

second was much easier, I was with my cousin at the center of the lake fishing on a raft we built ourselves, sturdy thing, i fell in the lake and got grabbed by a branch or something that was someplace there and could't swim up, I think my shorts are still there heheh, unless someone fished them up :) was scary though.

My left knee is damage from lack of cartilage. My knee bone rubs against each other. At times it hurts too much to walk but most of the time I can deal with the pain

I've had a few painful injuries, breaking bones at a few places, but I can't really remember those.

The one I do remember is having a knife impaled on my left hand. That hurt.

Because we can!

EDIT2: I don't know if it's just me, but it kind of freaks me out when someone like Antheon says that he could have died. He might not have been here today. It really makes you think how fragile life is.
By the way, if you want you can revive this other thread, precisely about nearly dying: Your Closest Death Experience [Sensitive & Serious]

It's interesting to read other people's experiences, except when it goes "I tried suicide twice... bla bla." This is the internets after all, most people are damaged anyway.

As for me, nearly death experience... nope. Painful injury... mmm, no, not really; just your generic "something heavy fell on my toe", "the car door closed on my hand", etc. No major injuries, no permanent scars.

I guess it was painful when I let an ant sting me in the hand. It got swollen, couldn't make a fist, and it hurt. Perhaps I'm allergic to their venom? But I did that on purpose, and have no scars or anything, so it wouldn't count.

you most likely are allergic, you should diagnose if that is true, cuz you could have been lucky with just swollen hand, next time could be more serious, if you would know you are allergic to their venom, you could have an emergency medicine for "just in case", knowing your allergies is your advantage, not knowing them might get you killed when doctors are treating you;)

LOL! You sound like a woman. No, you sound like a 15-year-old Japanese schoolgirl with a pretty sweet voice.

I actually did this 3 times. First, just because I wanted to see my reaction. Second and third to perfect my technique in forcing the ant to sting me, and to verify that in fact only my hand would swell. Not my arm, no reaction anywhere else, just my hand, the 5 fingers and the palm. It's like my body contained the venom perfectly, it didn't spread.

I would probably need emergency medicine, but only if I was attacked by 20 ants in different parts of the body. And it's just swelling, not like a poisonous snake that actually produces gangrene. Besides that, I'm a man!

you most definitely need that diagnosed, why ? the types of ants are many, it might be that your allergic reaction is weak in overall, or you was lucky and the type of ant had the venom that is not very strong, I was bitten by many different insects, ants, spiders, mantis, moth (fucking tickled me) I don't count mosquitoes, bumblebee, typical bee, wasp, also got bitten by other animals like lizards, dogs, cats, and once by non-venomous snake, lucky me, once even a duck bit me, cuz i didn't want to give her some bread :P (or him). there were bugs that bit me but don't know their names, had an allergic reaction to those, and caught one and took it to doc so I would know what the fuck happened, the allergic reaction I had to it was rather hard.

LOL! You sound like a woman. No, you sound like a 15-year-old Japanese schoolgirl with a pretty sweet voice.

that is a first, you are the second person on the forum saying a compliment to me ever, not accurate though, i'm a guy... that was a compliment ?

wouldn't want another insult :)

Besides if you don't know how severe your reaction is to a specific insect you could easily die. I won't risk my life for something as idiotic as seeing my allergic reaction.

I just recieved a new injury today.  I was helping my pops build the frame for his greenhouse and he was using a nail gun.  He set it down to go down a ladder and he knocked it down and it hit me in the shoulder.  So I got a nail in my shoulder. When the nail went in it scraped my shoulder bone.  If anybody had anything scrape against a bone you know hurts A LOT!!!!  After that the usual happened> I cussed a lot, went to the hospital got my injury fixed.

EDIT: Oh and to everyone who were in car accidents. I can't help but think you're all kids who got your license too early. Seriously, I can't get over how fast you can get it in America. In Denmark you have to be 18, and I'd say that's a bit early as well. Though it helps a lot of young who can get to work and school where they'd otherwise not be able to go. I realize that it can be quite easy to get into a car incident even if you're driving responsibly, but that's just how I think.

Maybe it's due to my overall attitude towards driver's license. I don't have one yet, and I am 22. There are people who are 4 years younger than me who have one. But I don't see why I need to have one. It's not like it's gonna be of any use until I get a car, and it's not like I am gonna feel more adult-like.

EDIT2: I don't know if it's just me, but it kind of freaks me out when someone like Antheon says that he could have died. He might not have been here today. It really makes you think how fragile life is.
My bad, haven't seen that you have been editing your post. First of all, you can get your driver's license at the age of 17 here in Austria but that's a minority. In my case all car accidents were related to me being the front seat passenger not the driver. But I guess I should ask someone else to give me a ride. *laughs*

If life wasn't that brittle I could not really enjoy it. To know that it could end at any time, even if you do not think about it that often, keeps me super-motivated. There's so much that I still want to do, so many places I want to go to when I have the time. But that would be content of another topic. : )

sapiens: Will take a look at the thread.

Probably this 'destroyed' knee I curently have got...  or the last time my kneecap  was dislocated...

They  gonna operate my leg next week... It has bone fracture, the knee cap was dislocated this  time also, there is about 1cm big piece of gristleunder the kneecap, also there is blood under the kneecap and then ripped muscles.

The current medicene (painkiller) I'm eating, canbe called drug. if I would eat 200mg of this drug in one dose I would die. My dose for it is 50mg :P but, it keeps me happy and without pains for 8 hours. Also, if I take 100mg  dose with alcohol I would die, even  with 50mg and alcoholthe risk that I would die is high.

Soo, thisis qute painful injury, thatisthe most strongest medicene that I've ever taken at home...

Memo to myself: Never ever try reading in this thread while eating!

Hopefully, the operation and everything else goes fine!

What I've heard the operationsisn't even difficult, they just open my knee and take out the piece thatdoesn't belong to there, then they fix some other problems, that's it.

and why:

Glad to hear that. Considering the pictures of your knee and your medication I assumed it to be more ... troublesome.

Well, I've seen many people getting heavily injured back when I worked as a waiter. E.g. someone got his whole nose bitten off by another man and so on. So every time I hear/read of such painful injuries I lose my appetite.

Well, it is easy thing, but it is still a thing that needs operation, you know, I CAN'T MOVE my leg without using my hands. and you know, A piece of gristle under the kneecapcan cause big pains :P also remind you there is bone fracture, that isalso under the kneec cap.

ouch :P ...and fail :P I love to take other peoples appetite away :P You know, I don't lose my appetite even if other person  pukes right next to me :P I will just move further away :P The thing that takes my  appetite away is seeing when Menatly and physicaly handicapped person is fed... It something traumatising to see when you are 5 years old... All that gruel coming out of the mouth and some one just puts it back in... Also the retarded voice... it relly was scary... I was 5!!  Wondering why I don't lose my appetite when someone pukes next to me? :p

I don't know if this counts, but having my gallbladder taken out was pretty bad, and the whole month of throwing up leading up to it. The first time I had... an attack or whatever... I remember wondering if I would pass out from the pain.

The second time I broke my wrist was pretty bad, but that was when I was 8... so it's hard to remember.

Pain is hard to objectify. You can't really relate it to emotional pain, you just remember it as, "oh my God, that really really hurt."

Another painful experience, getting cut open and being able to see your bones.
I went like, fuck, I can see my tibia, not good, not good, then the pain surges through.
