Have you ever played a Visual Novel?

Gross as in bloody? And same here, reading a VN for 100+ hours even if it is worth the time.... BTW it is my first. So you could say i never completed any.

Gross as in cannibalism and sex with slimy tentacle monsters (who look like human btw). But the story is pretty good if you ask me.

I can handle the tentacles. But cannibalism is a NO for me. Guess I'll skip on that one. The very thought of eating a fellow human almost makes me puke.

Before now, I had never heard of visual novels. Although I do recall "playing" the game Discipline, does that count as a visual novel? I didn't particularly like it so I never bothered again.

Considering my massive collection of them for the PS2 in NTSC-J, I'd have to say very yes. :)
sucks that I had to get a modchip though. :/ Why would they even region lock this stuff? I still paid for them. They even did it on the super famicom/super nintendo by cutting notches in the US versions and using a rounder smaller cart on jap ones, making me have to mutilate my SNES to play Mother 2.

I played "Snow Sakura" exactly 2 years ago... it was my first step into the anime world, lol :P. I found it in a PC games tracker. At that time there wasn't anything new to play and, as Snow Sakura sounded good, I gave it a try. At first it seemed stupid to me, a game with only text and voices, and some drawings thrown in. But I started to like it as it moved on, and by the middle of the story I loved it. It was nice and cute <3. When I finished I wanted more, so I came across... School Days in that games tracker. Too bad it wasn't translated, as everyone in the comments were so... euphoric about it xD. But there was the anime, and that WAS translated. I downloaded it... and LOVED it. Just as AWESOME as a 12 episode series can get. I asked for more recommendations and the following things I watched were True Tears and 5 cm per sec. Loved them too... and that's how I discovered anime and ended up in BoxTorrents, now BakaBT.
Well, that was a bit off... After Snow Sakura I started Clannad and Wind - A Breath of Heart. They were quite good, but I can't stand reading in a monitor. I get tired quickly and I loose attention quickly. Same with manga scanlations (although there isn't much to read there as in a novel). I prefer 10000000000000000 times a proper book. But in the light novels aspect almost none [of my interest] are translated. So far I read Strawberry Panic vol. 1 (couldn't get the 2nd) and Ballad of Shinigami vol. 1 and 2. The rest aren't translated and never will :(. There are light novels of Kanon and Clannad (in fact, Kanon got a new "revision" in 2009 with the hentai removed but with extra content to compensate). Of course, none translated. I plan to read them... IF I can manage to import them and when I reach a "decent" level of Japanese. Till now I can read only some texts in the kanji book I'm using for... kanji :P. So I'm not holding my breath.
Hehe, long post :3
