Have you ever played a Visual Novel?

Sosseres:
I played my first VN about 6 or 7 years ago (might have been a bit earlier). I probably play 1 or 2 per year. I find that I mostly prefer a normal book and just grab the VN that seem to be better than the books I want to read. Oh and if I loved an anime I tend to pick up the VN as well in order to get a fuller experience of something I liked. (Majority of the ones I play are erotic since that is a + for me, just as it is a plus in normal literature.)

The one I've liked the most thus far was Kana ~imouto~, it just clicked with me and I cried several times while playing through different paths.

Do you include animated ones such as School Days in this category as well? Since most people tend to include it in the VN category. Games of that kind I could probably play quite a few off.

TightMuffin:
I have read a good bit of them (though only the ones translated to English...) and my avatar/waifu comes from one too.  (From Cross Channel)

I've played Saya no Uta, Shuffle, and Chaos; Head, and Ef: A Tale of Two.  I really want to play Eden*,but the translators are arranging something with Minori, hopefully getting an international release.

Saya no Uta isn't that bad, unless you're a little whiny girl, but then again I'm pretty desentized, as watching "A Serbian Film" didn't even bother me one bit.  The cannibalism parts you hardly saw anything.  It just described it as being a "green goo", and showed the aftermath from another person's point of view.  The gore is nothing compared to other hardcore eroges like Screaming Gore Show or Gun Katana.

Back in the day, I thought Visual Novels, and H games were the same thing, so I bought a VN hoping (like a sucker) that I'd get to see some silly H scenes. So wrong...

It was boring, and despite multiple people telling me to give them another go, I can't play more than 5 minutes.
