Recettear
« on: September 14, 2010, 04:27:53 PM »
this is a recently eng patched game that is VERY fun and addicting, so naturally i want to share it with everyone here. i been losing a lot of sleep playing it lately. basically, you run an item shop and sell stuff to people to make money. i posted a link to the isohunt i downloaded it from, all you do is download, unrar, and play. again, no install. this is the full game in eng. so get to it. also, no viruses or problems, you have my word.

Or you know, buy it.
It's on steam and few other places for $20, and there's a demo available.
I've been playing it for most part of last few days, it's great.
Some resources to help you out:

http://www.diygamer.com/2010/09/recettear-item-shops-tale-walkthrough-guide/
And a rather amusing recommendation image(WARNING: copious amounts of profanity[which is nowhere to be found in the game, unless you count stuff like "merde" from time to time]):

Yeah, it's small, funny, and not expensive...

Looks like that a few small companies went away from big, expensive games, to small, cheap ones (~15€).
Was the same with Torchlight and now Recettear...

This game is so much damn fun. I managed to beat it without going through another loop. I cut it really close the final day though. Currently enjoying endless mode and then I'll do a New Game+ to unlock more chars / dungeons.

Edit: Try out the demo! If you think you'll enjoy the full game, please please please buy it. The better this game does the more likely Carpe Fulgur will be able to translate more games. =)

What mode are you trying to load in? Fullscreen or Windowed? I've heard of some crashes with fullscreen mode, but windowed seems to be working fine.

It's the trend nowadays. PSN has some new ones too now (flower, fat princess, flow etc.) and xbox arcade has more coming out now as well (Castle crashers, alien hominid etc.)

People actually like playing basic games. Cheap and easy leisure and you don't have to feel bad for not committing to the game since you spent big bucks on it.

This looks interesting... but I have to fight the temptation! I mean... I've already planned temptation for Dead rising. Games like this... too much fun mang.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

well, it looks like my link was removed, you are all smart people. buy it or find it for free on isohunt, either way, as long as yur playing it and wanna brag about how bad you ripped off yur customers, then its all good. i would buy it, but i too am in quite a bit of debt. i scraped together extra money for weeks just to buy my 3rd terabyte ext drive (for saving anime duh), so any extra funds are nonexistent right now.

as for the game, i like Tear, i dont care what anyone else says. she can balance my budget anytime if ya know what i mean..... cuz im poor like Reimu(donations please?) i was doing pretty good until i saw the payment i had to make for week 3. 80000pix? itai! after i paid the 30000pix i had 3000 left.... i feel like im paying my own bills lol. just how much could this girls father owe dammit! ... the tall guy who looks like a soldier to me usually doesnt get mad if i mark stuff up to 125%, he'll usually buy it (capitalism ho!). the little girl, however, runs away if i try to sell to her any higher than 109%. i had a day where most of my customers wanted to sell things to me instead of buying my stuff....wtf, im not running a walmart here! i gots bills to pay!

Windowed or full screen just didn't work on my pc. Don't know if it was a problem running on windows7 cause it works fine on vista.

It's not windows 7, that's for sure.  I bought it for someone who has Win7 and it works fine on their computer.  Maybe it's your video card or a hardware problem?

Specs of your computer?

that last payment sure was a killer, but now i got endless mode and survival. i would post a screenshot of my progress, but if you saw how much money i got, you would faint. playing in the dungeons is way more fun that selling stuff all day cuz i can level up until i run out of restorative items. good thing leveling up refils yur health and SP.

The best game on steam.  I would recommended purchasing it to support the developers, torrents kill indie game developers

I dunno, if i recall correctly, theyve sold over 200,000 copies or something...?
Anyhow, i bought it anyways, finished the game (twice), lvl 39, and now trying to get 100% everything?
I wonder how long it will take...

Of course not the company itself, but the localization.

"One month to the day after Carpe Fulgur started taking pre-orders for the game (eighteen days after release), they announced in a news post on their website, that they had sold 26,000 copies of the game"
