6 days wait period

Hi guys, it's a pleasure to meet you all, I'm new here =)

Sooo, I just registered, and I started downloading my first anime here: "monster". Noticing how my ratio was dropping incredibly fast I realized it wasn't smart to download it all since it seems very hard to upload back with so many availabe seeds...

So I thought of downloading some random anime with lots of leechers... but it seems the ones that show up have more seeders than leechers... is that because I need to wait until the 6 days period after the registration is over? Maybe that way I can find something with more leechers that I can seed...

I have read about freeleech torrents, but is there a way to browse only for freeleech torrents? I bet the 1080p files could help me get the most ratio...

Anyways, it would suck to wait a week to finish watching monster sooo... I have heard there is a way to get the files without being logged in? As a public tracker while I'm logged out? Would I need to browse manually through all the torrents until I reached the monster one? o_O It says I can't use advanced browsing ^^; Other than that, would I have lower download speeds if I didn't log in?

Sorry for the many questions xD I don't want to be a leecher but it seems a bit hard to seed efficiently if you don't have much anime on your hd. (small one btw lol)

IMHO, what really matters is the difference between amount of seeders and leechers. I doubt you'll get much seeding on Coalgirls' Bakemonogatari torrent unless you have a strong connection.

What do you consider a strong connection?
That Bakemonogatari torrent is the only torrent I have on one of my other computers and when I seed with (which admittedly is pretty rarely) it I get near max UL speeds nearly all the time.
Of course the best way is to just have a large variety of torrents to seed so you can pick up peers on multiple torrents at the same time.
My main seed computer is running 43 diff torrents and it takes a matter of seconds to reach full capacity UL rate (around 200kB/s) and it stays there until I shut it off.

Anyway, another good idea is to see what is being offered and has a good chance of being accepted. Gather up those files from another site in advance so you can seed it right as it gets accepted.

As I was typing Takeshi voiced my fears ^^; I can't seem to find anything with a decent seeder/leecher difference, it's everything well seeded! xD; I think I will need to wait for that 6 days period to expire after all, even if it's not a free leech it'll be worth if I can seed it well after and for a long time.

Any links of something that would be great to download and seed? This http://bakabt.me/152562-bakemonogatari-sound-collection.html wasn't that good for seeding either... I downloaded 50% of it already but I can't seem to seed more than 5kb/s  :'( I think I have a decent connection, 13gb max dl speed.

Hmmmm... gathering up anime files from other sites in advance? I wouldn't know where to look at  xD;

It is possible, BBT is public.
The problem is that you cant use the search function when you are not logged in. You could however search while logged in, bookmark the page you want, then log out and navigate back to the book marked page.
Or alot of these files are available in places that aren't BBT, you don't necessarily have to DL the torrent from here in order to seed it here.

Wait...if you bookmark it...and download it while logged out, your ratio doesn't get updated... so why bother about ratios and stuff? Do you get slower download rates or anything like that? I'm going to try immediately xD

The ratio isnt much more then a number, but; Just becuz you don't have to do something doesn't mean you shouldn't do something. Just remember to switch to your private key when you seed or it wont count.
You should seed the files to help out other people who want them, not just to get a good ratio.

The speed isnt effected by not logging in, infact the first handful of anime I got from BBT i didnt even realize it was coming from here until I saw the name continually pop up on the tracker list. Thats when I decided to look into it. I seed tho becuz its a good site and I want to help other fans get faster DL speeds, I dont do it for a pretty ratio number.

I totally agree with you and I intend to leave everything on seed until I get at least that 1:1 ratio, but it's much less of a worry that way =)

if you need your ratio to go up maybe you can seed some anime you already got on you hdd?? try to synchronize anime you obtained from other trackers with those here maybe you'll find something you can seed?

I seed tho becuz its a good site and I want to help other fans get faster DL speeds, I dont do it for a pretty ratio number.

and btw my philosophy is exactly the same. BakaBT is extremely well made site. I like the half-public policy, cos thats what makes you able to go up with your ratio. if one is here, in most cases, it is out to respect for subing teams, BakaBT makers, mod team and work they do here and ofc passion for anime/manga. also the pleasure of sharing things, helping others...

Blanchimont said this somewhere else. Anyway, no need to bookmark and all. You can google it. Type "site:bakabt.com <insert anime name>" and you will get it. For example, if you wanted your Monster, you would type "site:bakabt.com monster". Check the second result. And people seed, like Soryon said, to help others. It doesn't really matter how high your ratio is, unless you just want everyone to see your name on the top 10. Just don't go below 0.400.

Thank you everyone for your answers =) I could synchronize my version of H&C 2, but I'm not seeding much on that one either, unfortunately I can't keep much anime on my hd as it is always nearly full... as for the ratio I went down to 0.011 already ^^; but since I dled only 3gigs worth of anime I shouldn't need to worry too soon about warnings right? I think I read somewhere you need to dl 25gigs of stuff first.

I'll wait a week until I can search for the new files too and then seed something with a lot of leechers to fix it back

i think i wouldn't worry bout warning yet if i were you, not that easy to get it. just seed whenever you can and whatever you can, and dont download everything you lay your eyes on

other than that i guess all the 'tricks' were already explained. and btw how big is your HDD?

You can post in the forum. Ideally 1.0 but reaching .5 is satisfactory (then you're even a Power User).
