While I agree on this, calculators just save you so much time. Especially when you need to work out integrals of the Schrodinger equation for square wells or things like that (those take at least 1 page) and if you accidentally switch a + or a - then you gotta start all over again. And that's where a calculator comes in handy.
But if you don't know how to do those then you should work them out by hand first a couple of times before resorting to the calculator.

Takes too much time. If you do that, you'll never finish the test.
