utorrent 2.0.4 speed problem?

(1/3) > >>

Zin79:
OK, after updating to 2.0.4, it worked perfectly for about 2 weeks and then my download speed got terrible. Then I messed up my settings and so I reset the settings to default (by deleting settings.dat and settings.dat.old from %AppData%\uTorrent). I did it because I'm still getting download speeds like 1.1 kB/s and there's nothing wrong with my ISP (I checked it by downloading the torrent with a different client).

The Setup Guide says my port is forwarded properly.

My question is -

1) If I reinstall 2.0.4, will everything be OK? (I don't really think so as resetting the settings didn't help)
2) Should I get back to 1.8.5? Will it cause any trouble? 'Cause I'm worried about this security problem. And will that really help with my download/upload speed if I do it?

And,

Do you know what I can do to get rid of this problem? I am really getting worried! Sorry for the trouble but I really, really need help.

Freedom Kira:
Have you tried restarting uTorrent? That seems to fix that problem about half the time.

Do you seriously think going back to 1.8.5 will make more sense than 2.0.3 in terms of security? If 2.0.3 had a security flaw, so did earlier versions...

Restarting utorrent? I tried that like a million times. I even reinstalled it and it still ain't fixed. I think it has been totally destroyed (probably, something is wrong with registry...); maybe it will be fixed if I reinstall WINDOWS! So, I'm giving up.

I'm using Vuze now, and it's good but I am hating all the settings (there's like billions of them...I better keep out of them).

Not if it was introduced by any of their changes between the two versions.

Nah, the security issue is a Microsoft Windows-based issue.
