I've never been able to tell a difference in quality personally. That's why I never go bigger than 720p - it just bloats the file size with no real discernible improvement to quality. After 720p it's all about the encode itself and I imagine you can probably get a smaller encode with better quality with 720p than the equivalent for 1080p.

Unless you're watching on a big TV screen I doubt you'd even be able to tell. I mean on something like a 24 inch monitor you're probably not going to see a difference. On like a 50 inch+ TV? You might...
