So, back-story time...
My father has been living in a van for about 4/5 years now.
Coming up on weekends and holidays.
He started doing this to get another retirement at a college which would have paid well when he hit 65, but wasn't really paying him well given the cost of living for the area.
They fucked him over, hard, when he was one year shy of getting into the retirement system.
-He almost sued, but couldn't afford the lawyer fees.
So, he got a new job, with this new boss promising to pay him a much better wage in a year or two.
-He's getting a shit load of training, even though he already knows most of the stuff.
NOW...
His tire BLEW UP about a hour ago.
He was lucky he was driving slow, and that it was a back tire.
Fucking ripped to shreds.
Screwed up the two hoses that connect the place where you fill up your tank to the actual engine.
- I don't know what it's called, I'm not a car person.
He's driving slow, while stopping from time to time to see if there's any kind of gasoline leak.
-After he patched the thing up with a towel and duck-tape.
All the while running on a spare tire that hasn't been used since the Bush Jr era.
NOW, after ALL THIS, he's FINALLY 'had enough'.
Nearly five years of HELL, and now he's had enough because of a tire going boom.
The 'funny' part?
He was told by the mechanic THAT DAY to replace that back tire.
He didn't, because he wanted to 'save some money' and buy it where I and his wife are currently living.
He would have, maybe, save about 20USD.
Now he's probably going to have to spend an extra 100USD-200USD to get it fixed...if not more.
