Well, most people that are very into Normality, which is pretty much what you described, seek stability. Unstable life can be quite problematic, so they prefer to be boring and lead a stable life. Can't blame them for that, however every now and then they wish to do something different. People want stability, and if you can lead a stable abnormal life, I congratulate you.
My life is semi stable to the point that by living alone I can take care of pretty much everything myself, learned to cook, so I don't need anyone to cook for me, I clean my place on my own, do my own laundry etc, and my job is decent enough to allow my lifestyle to be semi-stable. It's not abnormal but I myself, compared to the norms of society, am abnormal. Allowing myself to be abnormal and lead a semi-stable lifestyle is an achievement.
I'm pretty sure that my lifestyle will change dramatically when I finally decide to get married. which will not happen anytime soon.
Condemning normality is a fools errand, but I do agree that at least normal people should try to understand other points of view. That said:
