My local theatre is closing down. The guy who runs it does it more as a hobby than to make money, but he was chugging along well enough. Then the movie production companies decided to up the price and go entirely digital. He'd have to invest tens of thousands just to keep a few of his multiplex theatres going, which is too much to ask from someone who's just an eccentric hobbyist.

It was a neat place to visit. He had a vast collection of movie paraphernalia like antique projectors, popcorn stands, and movie posters. More importantly, it was $6.50 to see a show for an adult, albeit on a slightly smaller screen than the big boys.

Next week is his last, he's got the projectors going 12 hours a day with classics from the last 26 years he's been in business.

In our town's case, the building the theatre was running in was taken from the guy that owned it. What are they going to do with the building? Make it a home for the elderly or something. He's temporarily showing movies in our school's auditorium (awfully generous of the school to give him the permission to use it). He's not in it for the money, he does it as a hobby.

I intend to see two or three shows a day starting Monday. He's got the Indiana Jones Trilogy, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, Star Wars I-III, the Alien series I-III, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Back to the Future I-III, Wayne's World, several Muppet's movies, and some others. I've got a schedule prepared and have advised my compatriots of the oncoming cinematic storm.

I've always loved the movie-going experience, even when the movie flops. I can't really get behind the large chains though, the air conditioning, the endless advertising, the insane prices, and the recent obsession with 3D movies have kept me away.

I don't mind compromising comfort and screen size to get a sensation which isn't as sterile and heartless as your average Walmart.

Damn uncooperative weather again. I need to get on my porch roof and paint it with some siliconizer stuff I bought. This stuff goes on blue, and then UV rays turn it white. It's a weather proofing agent and has aluminum in it to reflect sunlight better and keep temperatures down in the structure. Not supposed to apply it after 4pm, and it's not supposed to be used if rain is expected within 24-48 hrs of putting down a coat, and you're supposed to put a 2nd coat on it a day or two after the first. I work Mon-Fri, so I basically need a weekend where I can get the job done. I was all ready to get it done last weekend, but last Saturday it was windy (I can't paint up there when there are leaves blowing onto my roof) and Sunday it rained. And now this weekend looks like it's going to be an exact repeat of last weekend, windy Saturday & rainy Sunday. Guess I'm going to have to wait another week; good thing I'm taking a few days off in mid-March.

I have to change my introduction when I get a call at my job but I have said the other over 30,000 times and I find it very hard to change my habit at this point.

Got called by one telemarketers recently, I started prying how he acquired my phone number (restricted) and he started evading my question and I told him to give me his name and the company name, cuz it's unfair that he knows my name and I don't know his. He hung up.

So I had a bit of a "chat" at mangoscans forum, as to why they whore for attention, by wiping accounts that are there only to leech manga's and seldom post some thanks, they are sorry for being attention whores in an attempt to increase forum activity.

Told them it's ok to be an attention whore (yup I saw their sarcasm and rebuked it with more sarcasm) as long as they do it smart. i mean, it's more trouble to make a new account every 2 months (mostly people are there for one manga) than to simply click download and post thanks on the forum. They should as well wipe the forum of all posts cuz now it's spammed with unregistered stupid.
