But isn't Quebec totally viable as being it's own country? Aside from the fact that there is no longer a federal party that has any weight supporting it? Clearly, the rest of Quebec agrees with him.
There are still a lot of nationalists out there but less and less and the separatist movement has gone quite unpopular. It's one of the main reasons why the Partie Liberale du Québec won that last few elections, because the main opposition is the Partie Québécois (a separatist party). And the NPD sweeping all over the province should give you another hint.
Additionally, the student movement is not exclusively a francophone movement. The two only English universities in the province (Concordia and McGill) have both joined the strike.
