It's common practice here,  it's considered rude if you don't. Unless you're like, helping someone move into a house or something when it doesn't make any sense.  Whether it is a "common practice" or not is very dependent on location.
I don't understand why anyone would want to keep their shoes on when they are at home. Doesn't it get really dirty, or don't people care since they still have their shoes on?
Now I'm just curious, when do you ever take off your shoes? You don't sleep with them on, right...?
I see this practice is USA, people walking around their houses in shoes, WTF?
The most shitty practice I have seen in houses. It's actually like they expect something bad to happen and are ready to run away asap.

haha, funny way to put it.

On another note, I thought that was how it was there, seeing that it's cold in northern countries and you would want to keep your feet warm as much possible.

That's what heaters are for? Those vent things that make your house warm? :P And socks. Wearing socks inside is fine.  Shoes you wear outside.. if you were to wear them inside during the winter you would track snow EVERYWHERE. and that's a huge soggy mess to clean up.. Unless you have a pair of indoor shoes. I know of people who do that, but you definitely don't generally wear shoes you were just wearing out on the street indoors.

Sorry, I meant that here it's common practice to take them off, if you don't, you're seen as rude.  But when I've visited people in the US, it seems like there they keep them on.  Personally I hate shoes.. I'll take any excuse I can get to take mine off. :P
I am deeply sorry for the misunderstanding, I did not direct my question to you, but to people who keep the shoes on. I only used the quote tree to mark a continuation of the conversation. :]

You need to keep your feet warm? I'm sorry, I don't really understand, as my feet are never cold in temperatures higher than 17°C, which is my ideal room temperature.

Deutsche Bahn...

No, I mean it. If you ever go to Germany in wintertime, do not plan to travel via rail.

American Way of wearing shoes in the house:
-Son just came back to home, went off to the sofa, to watch tv, he keeps wearing the shoes on.
-Mom just came back from work, she changed to slippers because women do that if they are wearing some sexy heels.
-Mom just noticed some kind of mud on the carpet, she checks it.
-Mom finds out it's DOG SHIT which found it's way to the house on her own son's shoes.
-Mom wishes this never happened ? she should teach her kid to remove shoes when he comes back home. Enjoy your new carpet, or the smell of the old one, cuz this dried in and wants to stay.

Yeah, actually this is fairly common here.  I generally ask people to take their shoes off when they come in my house, but depending on who I visit, I may or may not take mine off.  (It's actually not safe to go around my grandmother's house in socks or bare feet -- she sews and many occasions I've found needles and pins all over the carpet there!)  It often depends on the condition of the place I'm visiting.  If someone has pets running around their house, or their house is obviously not clean, my shoes will stay on.  Hosts here very rarely provide slippers or something similar to guests, and we Americans typically don't carry a pair of indoor slippers with us when we go to visit someone.

Of course, in my own home, I never wear shoes unless I'm about to leave the house, or I'm working outside & am going in and out of the house.  Same is true of my roommate.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Parties with loud music (I'm not visiting). There was one on monday and I didn't get to sleep until around 1 AM. It was so loud I could hear it with my window closed and headphones on.

I mean, fuck it. First of all, why is there a club in an area that consists mostly of flats? Second, why throw a party on monday night, people just might want to sleep b/c they need to get up early the next day? Well, the thing is - I have to move out next year anyway. Might as well start searching now...

Lol I've never really minded that kind of stuff, I lived right outside my Universities on-campus bar/club. I see your point though, it could be annoying, I just kind of grew to block it out.

OnTopic: Having to get my suit modified. I lost too much weight it would seem, that's just an annoyance.

I don't mind living close to a club. But I do mind playing music so loud you can hear it clearly about 200m away (with houses inbetween). ;)

I think it has something to do with the windows7themes. Mine's been doing that ever since.

When goddamn hotel staff don't read the fucking "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.  >:(

I came back for lunch and they were changing the linens even though I had the sign up, I was pissed.

Why are you in a hotel?

That may be, though I think the ugliness of the default theme is worse than the rare crashing and instant restarting of explorer.exe, so I'll keep it :P

I'd recommend moving somewhere like, say, Mars, but then you'd have a 100% moron population.
