Yes, being able to go to the top of the page I'm currently viewing is certainly convenient at times, but the shift key is really where it's at. With it, I can transform numbers into special characters, and lowercase letters into uppercase. It's like having 2 keyboards in one.

That's pretty much what I thought today as well when I watched the user intro video or whatever it's called. "It'll probably be ok with a touchscreen, but what the hell will they do on desktops and laptops?" Then the answer came in the demonstration, and I realised I'll be skipping a third version of windows since XP. I'll probably go with Ubuntu instead when the time comes.

I tested out the developer preview on my laptop. It's extremely frustrating to use with a touch pad I tell you, although it may have changed a bit since then. With a mouse, it was durable, but I can't see how it is any more practical than the regular desktop layout we have today.

I've rarely seen anyone bothering to use the touch pad when they could simply use the pen to poke anywhere on the screen. Even when they don't use the tablet mode they have the track ball mouse.

I'm sorry, but my laptop is... a regular laptop. It does not have a touch screen.
...or am I really out in the blue right now (read: intoxicated), and you're just complaining about people refusing to use the more sensible option?

They're typically rather rubbish though. Not the touch screen, just everything else they sacrifice to make it cost effective.
