The fact that my university is apparently still unable to buy and use stable servers for our online course registration system. They KNOW that at the start of october there will be many students online to check out dates, literature lists and other info on the site plus there are some registrations ongoing. Yet they do nothing to improve the situation – even though the number of students is steadily increasing.

I think this is a common problem at almost any university... a rl friend of mine has experienced similar issues at his university.

Another common problem with them is imbalance of temperatures within the same building.

Never thought I'd say anything good about Cardiff Uni's IT department, but online enrollment is actually one thing they've always handled perfectly, at least in the time I've been a student here.

On topic, and slightly related. A friend brings his laptop over to my place, the idea being to play Minecraft together. We then spend 3 hours trying to figure out why his laptop is refusing point-blank to connect to my wifi. I figure it's because Cardiff uni made him install all sorts of weird security crap on it before they let him connect it to the university wifi, so I spend ages deleting it all. Still no luck. Finally realise that, because we used to live together a couple of years ago, and I'm now using the same wireless access point we had then, his laptop is simply trying to connect with the old password, which I changed a while ago. Enter the new password into his laptop, and bang, it immediately connects. >_> Three hours wasted.

The pace at which I'm reworking my courses notes. But hopefully it'll benefit me 7x of normal classes like this usually does.

Wow thats as bad as over here in australia. being in a remote area we pay about $2.80 per litre but diesel is like $1.30 per litre.

WTF! I also live in a (semi-)remote area of Australia, but I only pay $1.60/L (3.6 or so L to a Gallon, something like that... GIYF)

Try going to Bamaga at the tip of NQ they are paying 3.90 a litre!!
