I finally watched this last night and I 100% agree with you. There were so many times where I was just like: "wut."
Good premise, and the movie itself is gorgeous. But highly lacking.

OT: When I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep.
When I say something completely over the line and something I don't even believe to someone very important to me because I'm incredibly drunk.

EDIT: more worryingly, he's hitting something with a hammer, and every time he does, big chunks of plaster fall from the ceiling $:-\$

I think I'm getting a cold again. It's pretty weird, but even as far back as when I was a young child, I would every so often get a slight fever and a slight sore throat for a day or two, and then it would go away. Happens many times over the course of a typical year for me -- I feel kind of lousy for a day, then I get over it. Maybe only 1 time in 20 does it actually turn into a full-fledged coughing / sneezing / feel like Hell, miserable cold. It's like my immune system is just weak enough for something to occasionally get a foothold, but just strong enough to fight it off quickly. Hopefully this time is another one of the 19-in-20 occurrences.

Seriously? North Korea invading a town in mid-western U.S.? Are we that nostalgic about the Cold War paranoia that we needed this remake? I understand that Hollywood is bereft of creativity and that everything is just a remake or adaptation of some other IP -- but dear Atheiso god of science -- wasn't there something else on a docket?

Like, make a live action He-man movie or stomp on the memories of one of Hitchcock's works. Remember Birds? We could remake that with lots of CG and explosions!

Yeah, no kidding. The original Red Dawn is a movie from my youth and still one that I enjoy for that reason. There was no reason to remake it though.

Kids, Just Say "No" to remakes (with very few exceptions). If you're spending money to see these turkeys, you're part of the problem.

Red Dawn originally was going to cast China as teh Evil Communists -- until the studio considered the fact that it might hurt their box office numbers among the Chinese.

There's something ironic about that, I think.

I suppose it could be worse. They could be fighting the Occupy Wall Street movement or something.
