You know escalators?
...of course you know what escalators are, why am I asking...? Anywho, you know the one rule everyone is bound to follow, namely that you walk on the left side and stand still on the right (may depend on which country you're in)?
People who refuse to follow that one rule, which every morning, with no exceptions, leads to clogging.
You know who you are....but that's a well known problem, and I'm not done yet.
You know the subway? In the Swedish subway, people don't seem to think practically at all.
The insides of the carriage look like
this. There are four seats to choose from. If you think ahead, you know that other people will want to sit down too, not just you. Therefore you should sit as far in as possible so that other people don't have to climb over you to get to the remaining seats. Thankfully, there are only two columns here, so you'd think there wouldn't be any problems. Hah, fat chance!
There are the two seats by the window, and the two outermost seats. If none of the seats are taken, everyone opts for the seats by the window, which is all well and good.
However! If one of the four seats is taken, the one by the window, people, fools that they are, don't take the other seat by the window, but the outermost seat diagonally from the person who sat by the window.
This leads to that the third person, who wants to sit down thinks it is too much trouble to pass through the two people already sitting down, takes the other outermost seat.
Here comes the problem: when the fourth person wants a seat, s/he can't get through the ones in the outermost column, who are obstructing the path, which leads to that s/he opts to stand instead (except if it's me, who wouldn't care. I'll certainly
not stand for 50 minutes in the crowded train because of this idiocy).
I see this every single trip I take, and if you think that the one in the outermost seat could just move to the window seat when the fourth person wants a seat, yeah, they never do that. They are arseholes.
