Turns out one of the things a ways down the road had been left open all summer so any time it even drizzled there were just raw copper wires exposed to the elements. They're gonna have to dig it up and replace the whole thing so Wed or Thurs so I'll lose my phone & net all day when that happens. He was surprised more people hadn't complained, lol...

He got my net & phone fixed though, at least a temporary patch up until they can get that done. But for the time being my phone is crystal clear and my net works... even my upload speed which has been like 20-40kb/sec the past month or so is back up to 100-120kb/sec like it should be. ^_^

Not so upset about it now. Seems that everything is going how it should.

^That sounds like a horribly slow internet connection...

OnT: This very annoying occasion where ppl suddenly start to blow up lots of explosives, just because it's midnight. Quit it already, having managed to survive yet another year is not that big of an accomplishment

Yeah. Even their 60MBit plan only has 1MBit upload. A seedbox is pretty much essential... lol

Iirc Tiff, you live in the States? If you want to do any serious seeding, seedboxes are pretty much essential in general. Our speeds pale in comparison to the Fiber Optics of Europe.

Yeah I'm in the US. I'd use a box anyways though for the peace of mind. I feel much safer downloading torrent files via VPN then putting them on my box and SFTPing the stuff to myself.

Actually, rather than bad technology, I think it more has to do with the big ISPs not wanting end users to be able to host big servers.

I'm in Europe, and I too have a 60Mb down/1Mb up connection, and I manage to maintain a great ratio without a seedbox, so I'd hardly say it's essential. I'm not a particularly heavy downloader from BBT though, so I guess it depends how active you are.

I had like 300GB up and 180GB down or so before I got a box. It doesn't matter anymore though, because I used to have unlimited bandwidth and they suddenly switched it on me without even informing me to only 60GB a month. Had to upgrade from 4Mbit/1Mbit to 10Mbit/1Mbit just to get 200GB a month bandwidth. Otherwise, I wouldn't even be able to download the crap from my box that I want without getting charged enough to have their most expensive plan from GB penalties.

I never cared about download speed. Downloading at 500kb/sec was totally fine with me. I mean, I had to suffer 56k back in the day, so pretty much anything over 100 was great. That made a pretty large dichotomy between the T3 I had at one point. But it's all good.

I've always been able to grab something I want immediately at least fast enough to start watching it while the rest is downloading. Other stuff I could just leave over night and it'd be done.

But jeez, they really screw you over on the upload.

Downloading a dubbed anime and it either:

1. Has such a halfass text/sign track that 80% of things aren't subbed, seemingly obscure pointless things get subbed while important things aren't, and half of what is ends up just half assed with bad styling or just flashing on the screen too fast to even read. Not only that, but the actual sub track doesn't even sub text on the screen.
2. Has only a full sub/sign track (e.g. EVERYTHING is subbed), ergo no text/sign track.

...this just happened to me while trying to download Shiki. Daman release first, then DHD. Both shit, in that order.

Trying a BluDragon release now which I couldn't even find on AB or Nyaa. Had to get it from BTN...

edit: LOL this is so pathetic!

BluDragon has no text for most of the dates, doesn't have a songs, and doesn't even have text for most of the names/descriptions that the producers actually designed as such a central point that the whole damn show pauses for a moment so you can read it. And apparently the actual sub track is literally blank with no subs at all.

This is so damn sad.
