Windows 8. My new laptop came with it preinstalled, but as I chose the option of not buying an operating system, I have no license key and so need to install my own OS. It took me several minutes of trying to work out how to reboot the computer, but I finally managed it. I then spent the next 45 minutes trying to work out why the fuck my Windows 7 install disc was refusing to boot at all.

It turns out that Windows 8 has a security 'feature' where it will prevent anything other than Windows 8 from booting. Even CDs and previous versions of Windows. It even stops the BIOS splash screen from showing, just to be extra secure. FORTY FIVE MINUTES I wasted because of that stupid bullshit which adds no useful security benefits whatsofuckingever and does nothing more than annoy people trying to actually use their computer

Well, sadly MS office is far superior to OpenOffice, so yeah, I prefer to use Windows for work as well. But it's more for reasons of compatibility, and because I like to mess around and change things on my computer constantly, which would mean breaking everything everything on a regular basis if I were using Linux. Windows is much more stable.

The downhill spiral of stumbleupon into a heap of reblogged mainstream detritus. I gave up in around 2010 after 80,000 stumbles.
