"Do you have what it takes to survive?"

Iam not usualy spooked by much, but this game.. I want to play, but i dont. Know what i mean?
If you wanna piss your pants. This game is for you.

Imagine that you have no recollection who you are. Youre jumpy as hell, and theres no mommys around.
Oh yeah, and a minor detail: You dont have any weapons.

Praise it, bash it, etc.

Just had a conversation about that game with a friend. Is the game only available on steam, and not in stores? Neither amazon.de, Gamestop or other local stores have it.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

I think it's an online purchase only. At least for now.

Multiple methods, Steam is one.

Available for Windows, OSX and Linux.

IF you want an idea of how the game plays, give penumbra a whirl. (Same concept). I think the controls are wonky. Not horrible, just very different. Like.... Myst or something like that. VERY reliant on your mouse. (Have a good one, or carpel tunnels sounds like a reality and accidental deaths easy)

Very adrenaline based game. Horror? Maybe, depending on your personality. For sure it's a jumper though.

If you're not like the typical money person... the demo is good enough to figure out the game.

I personally had issues with the controls at first, but once you figure it out, it's not bad. (Takes quite a bit of time to warm up to?)

I saw a few ads for this on steam. The trailer looked pretty interesting. No weapons reminds me of playing through the Fatal Frame games on ps2. =x

But you actually could defeat ghosts in fatal frame, no?

This game is more like, run and avoid. It likes to prey on the helplessness factor.

Tried it, for the first time in my whole gaming experience, I felt vulnerable.

It gets worst when you start to... sort of "hallucinate", things go real awkward and whacked.

Question to the people who played it already AND played Penumbra. Is it better than Penumbra? Because for me Penumbra was just "meh" and wasn't scary at all. Well, Black Plague was decent and much better than Overture but still not even funny Clarence and few puzzles (Overture didn't have any puzzles) were enough to make it more than avarage. But the concept, if handled well, can give very good horror game. So I'm asking if Amnesia is any different from Penumbra?

Wow, the trailer was so intense. I really felt the atmosphere there. I LOVE IT!
Not many games out there that can drag you in just by the trailer.

After playing it for a while, I recommend it to other people thinking about purchasing it.

Depends which penumbra you played. I hear that penumbra was sort of slow and explorative/story, whereas there's more "action" in Amnesia in the sense there's more avoiding and trying to stay alive and the story is secondary. (Granted, I haven't actually had time to play Amnesia... so you'll have to ask others... or waste money testing out the idea yourself.)

A yes...a friend got me to play it a few months back. I got just after the elevator, was going hysterical play it T-T. You could "acquire it by other means" or play the demo if you don't want to waste money on something you might not like but I honestly think it's worth it, it's only about £6.50 now.

I should continue playing it at some point but I don't want to ruin my chair just cause a book falls or a door slams...

I've seen couple of friends playing this. Ain't a pretty sight.

One of them described it as the scariest game he had ever played (and he hadn't seen any of the monsters yet).

This is yet another game I picked up when I went Steam-crazy at Xmas time, and still haven't gotten around to playing yet....
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

I grabbed it awhile back because of the demo... The first water-y area had me going for awhile until I died and read the warning. Made it to what seems to be a safe zone, called it a day and haven't played it since... x.x

Granted, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat—Higurashi is about as much as I can handle. Horror is fine; it's the suspense and never knowing that kills me. ...and not having so much as a friggin' crowbar.

About the sanity meter, though: besides making it difficult to handle and causing hallucinations, are there any serious effects to letting it stay low for too long? I.e. will you lose the game? I kept running out of light, and it seems to refill really, really slowly. Even after huddling in a well-lit corner for several minutes, it goes right back down once I leave...
Oh flickering blaze burn...

You kinda black out and collapse if it gets to high, not really game over but it can get you killed if you're near monsters.
