Amnesia: The dark Descent

A yes...a friend got me to play it a few months back. I got just after the elevator, was going hysterical play it T-T. You could "acquire it by other means" or play the demo if you don't want to waste money on something you might not like but I honestly think it's worth it, it's only about £6.50 now.

I should continue playing it at some point but I don't want to ruin my chair just cause a book falls or a door slams...

I've seen couple of friends playing this. Ain't a pretty sight.

One of them described it as the scariest game he had ever played (and he hadn't seen any of the monsters yet).

This is yet another game I picked up when I went Steam-crazy at Xmas time, and still haven't gotten around to playing yet....

I grabbed it awhile back because of the demo... The first water-y area had me going for awhile until I died and read the warning. Made it to what seems to be a safe zone, called it a day and haven't played it since... x.x

Granted, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat—Higurashi is about as much as I can handle. Horror is fine; it's the suspense and never knowing that kills me. ...and not having so much as a friggin' crowbar.

About the sanity meter, though: besides making it difficult to handle and causing hallucinations, are there any serious effects to letting it stay low for too long? I.e. will you lose the game? I kept running out of light, and it seems to refill really, really slowly. Even after huddling in a well-lit corner for several minutes, it goes right back down once I leave...

scotsman:
You kinda black out and collapse if it gets to high, not really game over but it can get you killed if you're near monsters.
